I wouldn't be surprised if the judge didn't thank the jury for their patience and diligence. They've obviously taken time to examine carefully all of the evidence, and not just rushed to a decision. This could have a large bearing on any appeal.
Hopefully some closure for her family. As a parent it must be a truly horrific thing to go through. Rest in Peace Libby
11 to 1 majority verdict on murder. What was that one person seeing that the other eleven didn’t? I hope this gives Libby’s family some closure. RIP Libby, beautiful girl
All in favour of the verdict but I wonder if it was a case of what that 1 person didn't see. Incontrovertible evidence of murder maybe?
So important for family and friends that this guilty verdict was reached. Well done to the jury. That must have been really difficult for them. RIP Libby. This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.
I don't know what to say. I didn't know Libby, but she was one of ours. She was on our watch and we failed her. This beautiful young girl with everything to live for. Libby would have had kids of her own. She might have been anything. Who knows? Don't ever let this **** out of prison, unless it's just to meet me on Oak Road. RIP Libby Squire x
The jury deliberated for a long long time. 12-0 on rape and 11-1 on murder. They saw and heard all the evidence. I’m convinced they got it right.
I mentioned earlier that the deliberations could raise his defences hopes for an appeal, but the amount of deliberation, and the outcome suggests they'd be pissing in the wind. I reckon the judge is sat thinking 'right ya pervy ****er, come to mama'.
Some people seem more concerned with criminals being being wrongly convicted, than they do for justice being done. **** them
Have been reading this thread with incredulity at some of the comments and observations. The blind leading the blind. Suffice to say that basing opinion on snippets given by the media and prosecution/ defence as reported is ridiculous to say the least. There has been evidence that no one on here will have been aware of and dare I suggest that unless someone is part of the investigation or attended the trial in its entirety then basing assumption of guilt or innocence without the full facts is foolhardy. I have not made any comments due to respect for the victim and not allowed to reveal significant aspects of this case whilst the trial was ongoing. Also, there are certain specific reasons for grounds of an appeal, none of which have been mentioned on here.
Surely those reporting on this case have been in court from day one, so they will have reported with ALL the facts available to the jury?
If you believe that every single word uttered in court is reported then good luck with that. The legal arguments when the jury are told to vacate the court as requested are not reported. To clear up any confusion on my post, the jury returned the right verdicts.
