I don't think we have the players to play this 4-2-2-2 that he likes. As been said before Leadbitter doesn't have the legs for it for a start. For the players we have, I reckon 4-2-3-1 would be a better fit

    ---------------------GK------------------------
    ---Sanderson--Wright--Flanagan--LB---
    ------------Leadbitter/Neil--Winchester/Scowen-------
    --------Jones--AOB/Gooch/O'Nien--McGeady-----
    ------------------------Wyke----------------------

I've purposely left goalkeeper and left back blank as after the last few games, I seriously can't think of anyone to play there! I've put AOB, Gooch or O'Nien depending on how attacking we are going forward. O'Nien could make it into a 4-3-3 and I think Gooch could link up between midfield and attack, whereas AOB would be more of an attack-minded number 10 kind of role. I'll go and put my tin hat on now!

I'm not sure what to make of him to be honest. I really want him to do well, I was all for his appointment but I'm wavering already.

I do think hes been unlucky mind, injuries robbed him of full backs early doors, Hume still out. Beat Lincoln with his type of football then squad got covid. Pitches haven't helped the type of football. We just cant get any momentum at all.

So I thought tonight was the game to start some momentum and then that happens.

I think this season is just doomed to be honest. I'd take 6th right now.

Several good points, key injuries, badly hit by COVID, ****e keepers and some truly awful pitches (including ours) have made it difficult to get off to a good start.

If you look at what he's done with Wyke you can see what kind of positive effect he's capable of having, the lads been useless since we signed him, Johnson takes over and now he's one of the best forwards in the league if not the best. Maybe he needs some time to spread that influence to the rest of the team.

It's hard to judge LJ with the players we have bit on paper we look very strong and more than capable to win this league. It obviously pisses us off when he talks the talk bit it doesn't show on the pitch. Just hope and pray we can put a good run together to lift the conference of the players.

I dont accept that these players are good enough to win the league. At all.

Under three separate managers, they haven't looked nearly good enough.

At a certain point you have to point the finger at the common denominator.

I’ve calmed down a bit now but I was absolutely raging last night. I think the biggest mitigating factor is that these players have seen off 2 other managers and I think most people acknowledge that the blame for this current debacle must lie mostly with them.

He should be given a summer to work with Speakman and clear out all of the ****e we currently have in the squad because bar one of two the whole lot need to be shown the door.

I will say he isn’t helping himself though, he comes across as a know-it-all in interviews but his team are not performing. Some of his team selections are baffling and the formation isn’t working. I can understand why he wants to play 2 up top but we haven’t got the players in the midfield to make it work.

Do you chose a system to suit your players, or get your players to play to your system ?

Why don’t you email him and tell him then? I reckon he’d be grateful and thank you for pointing out the glaringly obvious oversight he made. You might even get a job on the scouting team that Speakman will be putting together or maybe as his personal adviser on team strengthening.

I wanted Pearson and SKP but accepted the decision and as always got on board and looked for all the positives.
Yesterday was my first proper doubt in him.
Does he over complicate things ?
These are footballers ffs not astro physicists .

If this new system of bringing in player's based on stats etc is the way forward rather than looking at players god help us.
(I assume thats how we're doing things and please correct me if I'm wrong)
Well I also assume this as surely nobody watched fookin Vokins before we fetched him in ???

Ok maybe the lad needs a couple more games, hopefully not in the first fookin team for the next couple anyway.
Maybe Parkinson is thinking "shouldn't of brought mcgeady back in" ???
    Picking at straws here ???
I don't know. I do know that's not acceptable, the new owner was there ffs and the cùnts couldn't even put a shift in the bottling fannies.

What the fook was O'nien doing on the bench until near the end ?

Hang on, the stats say we weren't that bad.

Well they can't blame the fans cos there aren't any.
It's not good enough and needs to change on Saturday or we're fooked.

He talks absolute ****e to sound intelligent. Most of us were sceptical about him coming in and I don’t remember him coming anywhere near top in the fan polls. Fair play to him for trying to solve the goalkeeping issue by playing Matthews last night, but it’s concerning he hasn’t tried to replace either of them during the January window considering he trains with them daily and must see how ****e they are. It’s about time he stopped with the talk and starts putting it into action. He is starting to get on the fans tits judging by a lot of the comments I’ve seen today.

I reckon we need a reality check if we are questioning a new coach already, and any signings he has just brought in, personally. The job he has on is harder than any other manager has had recently as we are at our lowest state ever in terms of league position and the style of football in the last few years has been abject. The players in our squad must be the poorest we have had if we belive the league does not lie. It is also clear all the key support structures have been dismantled such as scouting. Blimey even the pitch is against him. Turning this around is not a 6 month job or a one window job.

Johnson has been honest from day one that he wants to play in a certain way. It is massively different to how we have been playing. Remeber Pep Guardiola praised his style of play after a cup game a couple of years ago. Imagine how much of a transition we need from where we were in October to get any praise from Pep for a style of play. The last thing he should do is come in and adjust his view on the way the game should be played to suit the players as that way everyone would think he is another Parkinson. He was brought in because he has a reputation for a certain brand of football and focussing on the youth. Stay with that mentality and the rewards will come, but not overnight, nothing good is built overnight.

I watched last night and it was dire. I think Johnson got things wrong and I think he will make more mistakes going forward too but the position we are in as a club means that is inevitable. As hard as it is to hear we are not loads better than the likes of Shrewsbury anymore as a team. That is the level we have been brought to. We have to coach players to be better or bring in players that are better. I have watched the likes of Shrewsbury, MK Dons and Plymouth recently and seen some really well coached teams who each have players in their side who would walk into ours. This will take time to sort. The players he has brought in have to be judged after more than a couple of games surely and barely a handful of coaching sessions with new teammates.

Finally Johnson is a modern young coach, with coach being the operative word. I cannot believe he has had many back to back coaching sessions since he arrived to work on things. What with Covid then midweek games each week he is probably getting no more than 2 proper training days a week. As to how he talks in press conferences I like it as he is honest and clear minded at all times. Yes he uses coaching lingo but that is the modern game and old farts like me have to accept that coaching is a different world to 10 or 15 years ago.

I just say we need lots of patience, and after last night that is hard and I was as dismayed as anyone. We need the entire club upgrading and a major start has been made, and Johnson is a part of that, but until he has all other key parts around him upgraded too then we need to be getting behind him and being patient I reckon. Besides I reckon the new regime are all about building and patience so I am sure he will be afforded time.

Parkey and Ross were pig headed like that and stuck with a system that didn't suit our style or the players we had available to play that system

now that the wage cap has been defeated, and we have a guy flush with dosh, why cant we sign a good few overseas pros without a team, if anyone cares to google out of contract goalies or players they will find a wealth of top players without a job due to financial restraints, they only need to be 5 on a short term contract produce or feck off

That free transfer link you posted was very insightful and there were definitely some players that would instantly improve us from abroad. It’s like we are banned from signing players outside the United Kingdom ffs.
