All jurors have arrived All jury members have now arrived so it looks like they can continue to consider their verdict. They retired late on Thursday afternoon so are into the third day of deliberations.
Hopefully a decision will be forthcoming today, hopefully it's the right decision and hopefully it gives her family some sort of closure...
The jury in the Libby Squire murder trial are today set to begin their fourth day discussing evidence as they look to reach a verdict against Pawel Relowicz who is accused of raping and killing her in a Hull park. After two weeks of evidence at Sheffield Crown Court, the jury was sent out last Thursday afternoon to begin their deliberations. The jury reconvened on Monday but were unable to reach a verdict before being sent home in the afternoon. They are expected to return to court this morning.
They had to reconvene the court because the jury had a question for the judge since they've been out.
Is it majority verdict or does it have to be 100%..Perhaps the judge will accept a majority verdict, one way or other, if they all can't agree. Which by the length of time its taking looks possible.
Still hoping they are unanimous on the rape and manslaughter charges and just trying to convince a majority for murder as I suspect a few can't agree with the murder charge?
Because historically weirdos and perverts who manage to keep their activities just below the level the police pay attention get away with it. Police will act if they hang around playgrounds or schools, but if they're targetting adult women then its a lower priority. Ask your wives/ girlfriends/ daughters/ sisters about it, any age, and I can guarantee they will have a story to tell of having to deal with a pervert. When I was a student (not in Hull) there was a local flasher that lurked near the graveyard and occasionally followed women while masturbating and talking dirty at them. Happened to some friends who walked straight into the police station, just up the road(!!), and the copper basically laughed at them and told them to just avoid walking on that bit of road after dark, didn't even take any details. So women have just been told to deal with it and don't bother reporting stuff like this because they're not taken seriously. Thats how people like this scumbag get away with it for so long.
The jury in the Libby Squire murder trial has been sent home after failing to agree on a verdict against Pawel Relowicz who is accused of raping and killing her in a Hull park. They have now spent four days and around 15 hours considering all the evidence but have still not reached and verdict.
I was a parky, or a park Ranger if you like, in Hull in the nineties. I came across quite a few dodgy bastards in them days. One **** washing his mirror sunglasses in a kids padding pool, on Pickering Park. I noticed he was doing it regularly. Erm, I made him go away. This **** was only about 20yrs old. On West Park I worked with the Police to nick a man who was ****ing from the back of a van to two young girls. That one worked out really well. Another ****er at Noddle Hill, I nearly caught that one. Again two young girls really distraught by the experience. Its really awful to see young people I mean kids aged between say 6 to 10 so upset to see such things. Similar stories at East Park and Queen Elizabeth. Just try educate your kids to the dangers and if possible, be there with them.
Kemps, great job, truly - but you also kind of prove my point. Your examples are all to do with kids. No argument that we are are better off with those bastards out of the way FACT, but Relowicz would fly under that radar because it appears his perversions were for females who had gone through puberty. Wish there was enough police resources that it didn't have to be an either/or competition on what kind of perv gets their attention.
Obviously finding it difficult to come to a verdict, not as cut and dry of a case as would have been hoped. The longer it goes on the more likely it will be that It will be not guilty I think
I think they'll have found him guilty of rape, but it might be the guilt of murder/manslaughter where opinions may differ. The jury got the judge to read the witness statement of the guy who heard the screams on Oak Road today.
It sounds as if the jury are doing a good job and basing their verdict on evidence and not emotionally driven. The fact they are asking for evidence to be repeated to them by the judge is encouraging.
