Sorry to hear that Wiz. Fingers crossed you don't have to wait long.

Strange about the supplies - I thought we had loads and the logistics were fine(?)
Do you know if it was the Pfizer jab you are supposed to have, or the Oxford one?

I can answer that one because my daughter works in the centre and was given her jab 2 weeks ago, she is on the front line, she had the pfizer, we were scheduled for the Oxford which is why I was so confident, she knew there was a large supply of the Oxford due in.

I must admit the nurse who rang and gave us the news was so upset and concerned I ended up consoling her, the best sales job the NHS ever done to us.

That's pretty rubbish Wiz, hope you get the call soon :emoticon-0148-yes:

My Mother in Law is in a care home in Hungerford Road and has been there since a week before the first lockdown last year. As she's 83 she was given her first Covid jab a couple of weeks ago but as part of the 'Bristol Outbreak' there are several confirmed Covid cases in there at the moment and staff have gone off to isolate too. All this means that they've had to employ agency staff to come in to work and family visits have been banned for the last 3 weeks.

Wiz, sorry to hear your disappointing news. I was told I'd get a call for me and Mrs R this week. As yet no phone call but every time the bloody thing rings I can't get there quick enough.
On more positive news, my girl had the Pfizer vaccine this morning.
She said the entire Vaccine centre was full of joy and relief. <cheers>

I still can't get an answer to my question:
'Now that I've had COVID - and recovered, do I need the vaccine?'
I've posted it on various medical forums and the only response I get is 'refer to your GP'

.... and that's another thing. I had to telephone my doctor's surgery (unrelated to Covid) and as an afterthought asked them 'By the way, I've had Covid and recovered - is it on my medical file?'
    She looked and replied 'No'.
I said, 'well, would you like to make a note of it then?'
She replied 'I could do I suppose - do you want me to?'
I was astonished - firstly that the NHS hadn't updated my records and secondly that my doctor was so disinterested.

I got them to update my records - plus those of my family.

How DO they know who has Covid or not in this country? What a shambles <doh>

Simple answer for me to that one R&W, your natural protection starts to dilute after 3 months, get your jab as soon as your age is listed, you are then protected, go get it mate. <ok>

It is a shambles but they will insist you have it, whether you've had Covid or not.......Numbers game!!
This is all likely to go on for the rest of 2021 at least...They will be expecting everyone to have another for all the different variants and we will still be restricted to what we can and can not do.. You know my feelings on it all...I don't believe or trust any of it..
The fact that even if you have the vaccine, it's unlikely we will be able to travel as we all did before for a good deal longer.....so with that in mind....It's a big NO from me!!

Is that the same one's dealing with winter illnesses every year contracting pneumonia? Do you now notice that at last, deaths related to Covid they now have to say WITH?

Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid or pus (purulent material), causing cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing. A variety of organisms, including bacteria, viruses and fungi, can cause pneumonia

Fully aware of all of that. Often pneumonia is the final nail in the coffin (pun intended!) at any time of year, not just winter, but generally ICU staff don't have to get dressed up to the nines in an attempt to avoid it and stay like that for gods knows how many hours!!

I would still like to hear the response you would get!!

I'd like to know the response you would get if you visited all the people out there dealing with Cancer or other life threatening illnesses unable or delayed to have treatment (and I know many) over the last year.....Just remember, 1 in 2 of us is likely to get cancer but many of the treatments to stop it from spreading are delayed...catching early is key.
I also know someone in Ireland that has been waiting to have open heart surgery since last March..the longer it goes on the less chance she has to survive.

Think the amount of deaths in the coming years that will happen because of these delays....but these will probably be covid tested and be amongst the misleading death stats !!

All Doctors & nurses have a very hard job......but as with many gruelling jobs....is what you sign up for!!
No different to our soldiers at war.....

I watch these angels in hospitals every night on the box. They really understand what the front line means and the dangers they confront every day.
Many are working 13 hour shifts and are exhausted mentally and physically.

Then I read 1For's view of this pandemic. :headbang:

On the box last night someone said when asked about people, mainly from the BAME community, who choose not to have the vaccine.
His reply hit a chord with me.
He said it depends whether you make the decision in hope or fear.
Me and Mrs R have decided on hope.
Pleased to say we're booked Sunday afternoon for our vaccine together.
