Bielsa would bring the enjoyment back.

Son had the ball plenty of times in non-dangerous areas and did absolutely nothing with it.
They kept in longer because they had a plan that didn't involve defending exceptionally deep and then hoofing it to an isolated player.
Vinicius would've had to have moved off the pitch to get space, as he had two centre-halves marking him.
    He's your Winks.

I agree 100%. It was a terrible decision from the start, normally he's a shrewd operator but this just seems like ticking one off the bucket list, knowing he and ENIC will be gone soon. My theory is that Levy hoped Jose would get a trophy or two before they sell up, and he may be right, but the plan was always to sell soon after the stadium was finished. Whether coronavirus might delay the sale is hard to say but I feel sure it doesn't make sense to have left all that naming rights money on the table unless they felt the new investors would want that decision for themselves.

I don't have enough info to know whether he can play better. But every time we are without Kane, the same thing happens. There is no point in having a back up striker if we just hoof it up to him.

There's no point in having Kane if we just hoof it up to him, either.

There aren’t that many. Even after ten **** matches we've still conceded very few goals.

But we don't do we. He plays deeper than Son and Bergwijn and is often available for a pass.

If the ball's at the other end of the pitch then Dier at al having a brainfart is less of an issue

This is why our tactical approach is so mind-numbingly frustrating: we know our defence has plenty of mistakes in it, made worse by different players having their own unique approach to making mistakes, yet we're set up so that they are supposed to soak up pressure as if that will beat the mistakes out of them instead of what actually happens, namely the odds of our opponents benefitting from one of them making a costly mistake greatly improve

There's no denying that, if we played on the front foot, opponents would get behind our defence - but as they're getting behind our defence when we sit back, does it make any difference?

but enough to hamper any team.

someone needs to sort that out

Bielsa teams strike me as nearly teams like we always are anyway

entertaining but not savvy enough to win the big ones

Recently? For about ten minutes in a game, until we take the lead. Then he's just another defender.

It's one thing to get routinely gubbed like we were at the tail end of AVB's run, but when we concede an early goal and we know we have no real chance of getting an equaliser as we aren't getting the ball forward just makes it feel somehow worse because it's so lifeless to watch

Seriously, our matches feel like they last four hours now because they're a grim procession towards inevitability where we can't defend yet don't want to attack

Unfortunately, we're a lot less attractive as a proposition now, as regards an established manager but last time, I said Hassenhuttl or Potter.

I think that I'd prefer Potter. He's doing really well at Brighton. With our strikers, they'd be some outfit.

Spurs defensive record is 2nd best in the PL.

The problem is that there are no goals unless Kane and Son are scoring and assisting in tandem. There is no plan B. He doesn’t want the option of Alli and there is no longer the creativity of Eriksen. If those four were your front four, it might be a different story.

Say hello to Leeds on the way down the table.

    Attempts on goal stats

    2016/17... 670 for v 348 against
    Over 17 attempts per game.
Last season at WHL came 2nd.

    2017/18... 628 for v 367 against
    Over 16 attempts per game.
Played at Wembley all season came 3rd.

    2018/19... 533 for v 451 against
    Over 13.5 per game.
Played at wembley and new ground
    Terrible 2nd half of season...scraped 4th.

    2019/20... 439 for v 531 against
Just over 11 attempts per game.
Pochettino sacked after 12 games...JM made manager.

    2020/21 ... 229 for 281 against after 21 games...just over 10 per game.

Pochettino's worst season saw us have :
    1. Over 3.5 attempts more per game than we are currently creating
    2. Creating more chances than we concede.

Considering JM is supposed to be a master tactical genius it suggests we've become defensively worse.

But most damningly it shows what I have been complaining about...we are creating very few chances and are boring.

    Stats are from...
    https://fbref.com/en/squads/361ca564/2014-2015/Tottenham-Hotspur-Stats

*Attempt stats only go back to 2016/17 but attempts on target go back further.

I recall our defensive record was good under Santini

Teams only needed to score once against us to settle games then, too

We now have a midfield who are more concerned to get back and defend then move the ball forward, that's why Kane has been dropping deeper and deeper. Now he's not there there is no midfield.
