Do I have to check the context of this meme or can I like it as I think it's funny Are we still allowed to find the concept of the french as surrender monkeys funny or not Can't keep up with whats allowed anymore
Just been diagnosed as having covid-19. Nothing to worry about; a temperature and headache for two days followed by a cold. The boy has also covid-19 but only lost his senses of smell and taste for a couple of days. Mrs Totally has the same symptoms as me and is being tested soon. Being a teacher and being forced to go to work and mix with about 250 people each day, it is surprising that it has taken this long to catch it. The most annoying thing is that I am going to be well out of pocket being home sick for 7-10 days. It's ok though because to show how highly valued we are we recieved a £15 Christmas gift voucher for all our efforts.
1 Aren’t you in Sweden Totally? Presumably not teaching for the state system, I’d hope they would pay you! Hope you recover quickly and easily.
80% of salary, but nothing for the first day. Although, I can apply for something for the first day, but it is not a lot. (same for the Mrs who is also a teacher)
Denmark to introduce an immunity passport/certificate for those who have been vaccinated, aimed initially at helping business travel, which I suppose depends on other countries recognising it. Also could help open up bars, restaurants, concerts, festivals etc. Naturally anti vaxxers (who of course get the benefit of everyone else being vaccinated) will be up in arms about being denied things, the affront to their ‘rights’ (which appear to be independent of any obligations on their part) etc etc. But if it’s ok for impeccably liberal Denmark it’s fine by me, let’s copy them.
G - What’s you’re opinion on the possibility that we will at some time be ‘mix and matching’ vaccines ? I’ve already had the Pzizer and would expect that is what I’ll got for my second dose...but from rumours and studies being taken at the moment, I can see that changing in the future. Dunno if I’m that ok with the idea And let’s be honest....vaccine passports were always gonna be a thing. Hopefully the Alabama 3 will be doing a ‘Covid free’ gig in the very near future that we can all attend
Hope you are ok mate.....it’s a weird one this COVID. It seems to effect everyone differently it seems. Hopefully you’re like me and just feel a bit achy and flu like.....whereas many others are getting it far more severe....there just seems no rhyme or reason to it. One tip that I was given by quite a few people (including Steels) is take some vit D and Vit C........dunno if it helped but took the advice.
Flaming Lips are doing "Bubble" gigs - looks fun! https://www.instagram.com/tv/CKUcplvpBpw/ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-55794674
I read about the mixed vaccine trials. They won’t report until the summer, which is too late for all the most vulnerable/at risk because of profession who have already had their first jab. I’m no scientist but I would assume that vaccines with a similar mechanism of action - AZ, Janssen, Sputnik or Pfizer, Moderna, Novovax - might be interchangeable. I’m not so sure about pairing , for example, AZ with Pfizer, they are different things, but a trial will tell. I’m guessing the motivation behind this is actual or anticipated shortage of one or more vaccines at second dose time. They will all need revamping over the next few months for the next burst of autumn vaccinations against new strains. I hope it would work in any combination, but I’m increasingly pissed off with bland assurances that it will with no ****ing evidence at all. I think everyone who has had the Pfizer jab should have had the booster in three weeks, as recommended by the evidence. Too sick to pray.
Fingers crossed for mild Covid Totally. It is a weird one this Covid. There is a little genetic evidence coming out, as to why some people get the cytokine storm in the 2/3 week after infection...that might tell us who is really going to need help . The clinical trials will tell us about mix and match vaccine....but I am hearing that Oxford will be changing the genetic formulation of their vaccine any how to take account of the new variants...again should be ready by the autumn. I do not think people realise our new normal will be different to old normal. Punctuated by yearly jabs of new and newer variants of Covid 19, permanent semi social distancing, and the decline of many things we took for normal...gigs, crowded pubs, crowded football matches
Cool mate, thankyou. It just seems it’s a little bit ‘make it up as you go along’ and a little bit of a risk to go against what the manufacturer recommends ie length of time between doses/mix and matching etc. Is it a risk worth taking ? Possibly in the situation ? Will it pay off ? I ****ing hope so
Funny you mention the ‘cytokine storm’ Beth. While I was ill with COVID I was of course doing what I I always tell my patients not to do and consulting with ‘Dr Google’... My HR seemed to go very Brady at around 41-45 BPM and just wouldn’t go up, which I found rather odd. I had no dizziness or lack of coordination so wasn’t too worried.....I read of this happening to a few patients and sometimes preceding a ‘cytokines storm’....was I concerned? Just a little. However now I’ve got back out running all seems back to normal.
I really don't see why we shouldn't return to normal, once everyone's been vaccinated. Yes,we'll need annual jabs for new variants, but why should people not be allowed to gather as before? Working practices will change for good - continued home working, no more 9 to 5 - bur that will be a positive thing. Glass half full.
