Leeds fall to victory. Leeds United fell ( a lot) to a 2-1 loss at home to Everton. What was once again the most entertaining match of the evening saw Leeds concede two first half goals with some sloppy marking in their own box. Never say die. Leeds played well all game but the second half performance was something else and on the balance of things probably deserved a draw. Raphinia. I know broadcasters like to give one of the winning sides players MOM but arguably it should have gone to Raphinia. He was excellent last night capping his performance off with a goal just after half time which sparked the excellent display we saw from the whole team... Banks & Buffons love child. Once again Leeds Utd come across a goalkeeper who decides to play like Banks & Buffons love child. In the first game against Everton Pickford, who had been on a run of bad form, suddenly turned back into Englands no1. We saw Leno and Ederson help secure their teams points against us with world class saves as well. While we should expect this from world class keepers look at their form before and after playing us. This is not a new phenomenon either. Look at years gone by and names such as Westwoood, Camp & Marshall come to mind. I bet there are others. Last night saw Evertons second choice keeper pull off 3-4 world class saves to deny us the draw/win,
The Supercomputer has predicted the final league table, would you take it or can we finish higher? I’d take it...
I love Meslier but if we’re talking PL quality he should be number two, that’s what being outside the top flight does to you. But this season was always about survival so what better way to develop your young keeper than play him and allow him to improve. Assuming we avoid relegation the next transfer window will be very important. Bielsa needs to be able to replace 2-3 players with ones who can walk straight into the team.
Morning all Disappointed but proud Struijk messed up and they score from nowhere. Set piece knock on and Ayling loses his man 2-0 But we ended up smashing another top 6 team all over the park. Bamford fell asleep twice when we needed him sharp. We also hit the woodwork twice and a Tomasveski performance from Pickfords stand-in made the difference. However Bamford had yet another assist and Raphinah scored again against Everton and turned in a wow performance. 63% possession, more shots, more corners, it was really a one sided game that got the result wrong. Costa was a mess again and added nothing and Roberts could have made himself a legend but yet again fluffed his lines and Bielsa was fuming. The pitch looked great compared to earlier this month, but due to non stop rain and snow was difficult to stay on your feet. Leeds deffo wore wrong studs in the first half
Plenty of complaints to BT Sports last night because Leon Osman former Everton player spent all nightcalling Marcelo Bielsa Marco? He also said Dallas was born in Leeds. Here is a paragraph from an article this morning: Osman is paid handsomely to comment on Premier League games. The very least he can do is a bit of homework and get names right. He shouldn’t even have to do homework to know that our manager is called Marcelo Bielsa. It’s not as if he’s been hiding under a rock since he arrived at Elland Road. Once is a mistake. Several times is grating. More than that and it just becomes disrespectful.
# I did find myself shouting at the tv calling Osman a disrespectful cnut for that. The fact that the co commentator was correctly calling him Marcelo and Osman still could not get it right. It is either a sign of complete disrespect or Osman is as stupid as he came across last night. The Everton bias was subtle from him but it was there as well.
I think you will find, according to BT Sport commentators, that it was Stroke not Struijk who messed up.
Morning all. Football coverage is spread too widely among broadcasters now there aren't enough "professional" commentators to go round. The fact that he kept on calling him Marco throughout the entire match shows to me that he was taking the piss. Probably a BT thing to try and wind up Leeds fans since that national hissy fit over the club's Twitter comment after that ex woman footballer "expert" said something daft, can't remember her name. They'll probably have Agbonlahor commenting on the next match.
It seems Leeds twitter has descended into civil war over two subjects from last night. 1- Liam Coopers comments that if we have to lose it is better to lose going down fighting like we did. This was posted by the official club account and the majority of responses were brain dead comments along the lines of "could try just not losing" "could learn to defend" "would rather play awful and win 1-0". This led to other fans defending him and the lads and calling out the people who commented. 2- Matheus Klich. I have posted several times that I think Klich has struggled to make the step up and nothing I saw last night has changed my opinion. He was slightly better in parts but if you watch the game back and focus on Klich you will see that most of his contribution is misplaced passes, mistimed tackles and not being able to stop players going past him. I take no pleasure in saying it, he will always be a legend for his part the last couple of years, but this is my opinion. It seems others are now starting to pick up on this and were tweeting it. This was met by people with the opposite arguments, understandably, but from what I saw the defenders of Klich could not offer much defence other then we should not be criticising him because he's Klich.
When I saw who the commentators were my first thought was that it was wrong to have an ex Everton player commentating. Too biased.
Don’t know who’s work that is, but it looks more like Mark Lawrensons than a super computer. As for Liverpool to end up on 83 points, that’d mean they’re only going to drop 5 points from their next 16 matches when they’ve dropped 26 from their first 22.
I wonder how Everton are so high in the league, they absolutely bricked themselves in the second half, spent most of it wasting time, tactical fouls and packing the box. A very cynical performance from them, they're currently top 6 and were so scared of Leeds that they looked like a team who were trying to avoid relegation.
At the end of the day anywhere from 17th upwards is fine, I'm more concerned about how many points we gain. IE : Finishing 16th but only 1 point more than the relegated team in 18th and 12 points behind the team in 15th, is probably a lesser achievement than finishing 17th, but being clear of 18th by 10 points , and being behind 12th position by 6 points. Although of course given that there is a financial benefit the higher up the table you finish, then of course I'd take 12th for our first season back. I also note that the Supercomputer is already wrong with regards Sheff Utd, who already have a point more than the computer predicts
