My Dad had his first jab today. He is in his mid/late 60's and in the vulnerable category. He had the pfizer jab and said that although he didn't get any info beforehand; just the date, time and location, he said it was like a military operation, and run so smoothly, efficiently and safely. He was very impressed, and my Dad likes to moan about things so that's saying something <laugh>

Obviously he's not 'safe' yet, but it feels like a light at the end of the tunnel.

Mrs B had the Pfizer jab this evening and the paperwork given out with it said about the second jab being given 3 weeks later. We will just have to wait and see if that is the case. I hope it is because the efficacy of this one, if given correctly is, I believe, 95%.
The Adelaide Health Centre was well organised with people in the car park directing people to the right building and staff inside to receive patients, book them in and then take them to the needle booths.
15 minute wait afterwards - they actually write your departure time on a sticky, and stick it on your clothing, so that others can keep an eye on you and know when to move you out so they can free up and disinfect the chairs.
    Very impressed.

I had mine on Monday, however they never gave me the 2nd appointment, saying they were waiting on the next government guidelines.
However in Swindon(had it at the steam museum ) the layout/system was excellent.....start to finish wasn’t that long.

What I wrote is a bit misleading.
The pamphlet my wife was given was an information sheet stating “You will receive 2 injections, given 21 days apart”.
Like you, no second appointment was given and we too are waiting to find out if the second one will be given after 3 weeks or later.
Unlike the Astra Zeneca vaccine, there is no data (to the best of my knowledge) to suggest that a delay in the second Pfizer jab won’t reduce or improve it’s efficacy, and I believe the 7 surgeries overseen by the NHS trust my friend works for did actually follow the 3 week rule, although I would have to check that.
I know she and the GPs definitely followed the 3 week protocol for their jabs.

My vaccine is on Monday at my local surgery. Shortly after that I heard from the NHS to book an appointment through them, so could have had 2 on the same day. <laugh>
Talk that having different vaccines for first and second jabs may even be better....a study is going on. New stuff being discovered every day.

I had my first jab Monday, my doctors rang me yesterday asking me to make a vaccine appointment.....”ah I thought second jab appointment”
35 mins later in a phone queue “sorry we didn’t take your name off the list needing first jabs”
Sorry, we will be in contact in a couple of weeks

I asked at the time would I have my appointment time for 2nd jab, and they said they are waiting for government guidance but would definitely be in the next 12 weeks.

Not sure if mentioned, but it has been reported from Israel that infection rate in the elderly has fallen below younger age groups...perhaps reflecting the fact that older citizens had their vaccinations first. They are expecting a similar fall in younger people in the next few weeks. One troubling fact is that the elderly are more compliant....both in accepting the jabs and obeying distancing rules....apparently Israelis are not obeying safety regulations as well as in the UK.

An update this morning is that the 15y old boys mum had taken his PS5 away from him and told him to apologise to Chris Whitty.
    Fair play to his mum.
