Gameday- Leeds United v Everton. Leeds host Everton tonight on our brand new pitch. Lets hope the snow has not affected its settling in. We will potentially be missing Rodrgio and Raphinia. Out of our Summer signings, all four of our major signings have spent ime on the sidelines whereas Bielsa's regulars don't seem to get injured as much! Who would you be looking to replace the two 'R's with? Southampton shipped 9 goals to the Scum last night. They were down to 10 men after 80 seconds. Just as the scum were starting to struggle at 6-0 Mike Dean stepped up and gave a penalty for a Martial dive. Guess if the ref has taken the money he has to give the pen regardless of the scoreline. Southampton started the season really well and everyone talked about their top 6 chances. They now have not won in 8 games, shipped 9 goals last night and dropped below us. No one is talking about Hassenhutal changing his style or asking if the wheels have come off as they did with Leeds. What is the difference? We are 15 pts clear of relegation and only 6 pts from a European place. At what point do we stop looking below us and start looking above as objectives for the season?
Mike Dean is an arrogant twat who thinks he's important and can never admit he's wrong. Almost every time VAR asks the referee to look at the monitor the decision would be reversed - but not him. Also likes to be controversial in order to be centre of attention, even when in charge of VAR. He's come up with some ridiculous decisions, e.g. when he deemed Bamford to be offside at Palace. Worst referee I've ever seen.
There was no need for Dean to have a look at the monitor last night. VAR should have just said you have got that wrong and move on. But like I said, if he doesnt give a penalty at Old Trafford he may not get his bonus. Everton have confirmed that Jordan Pickford is injured for tonight's game. A lot of fans on twitter joking that this is a bonus for Leeds. It is hard to tell for me. He has a clanger in him no doubt but, as so many keepers do, played like Banks & Buffons love child against us at Goodison park.
Morning all We are 15 pts clear of relegation and only 6 pts from a European place. At what point do we stop looking below us and start looking above as objectives for the season? If we beat Everton I think safety is guaranteed and we can start playing without pressure. We can start doing some damage to the top teams like we did against Leicester. We can also start to look at Huggins, Greenwood, Gelhardt and Drameh to see if they can stop us spending big money in the Summer. looking forward to seeing some grass on the ER pitch and hoping its stable enough to get us through to May
French football is now really under the cosh. TV deal has collapsed weeks ago and yesterday a new round of bidding failed to come up with the partners or the cash required. Canal+ refused to enter which left Amazon and a couple more but they refused to come up with the base price. This fiasco will be bigger than the ITV Digital collapse if no white Knight comes in. Looking at some serious transfer deals in the Summer as many of the best players get poached?
Is this is an indication of how superior a product the Prem is? Could it happen here? If Sky backed out there would still be 2 if not more suppliers fighting for rights.
Good luck with job hunt and at least this keeps the boredom away for a while, and the grey matter ticking over to think of something for 606ers to mull over.,think klich for Rodrigo and probably Costa for raph if not fit, though he is going to have to massively improve his recent performances of late
The game is on BT3 tonight, just in case anyone doesn't know. Although you'd be a piss poor fan if you didn't
There is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes in sports broadcasting: Sky are not getting the advertising revenues because of covid yet still paying out tons of cash. He Premier League want more cash, BT Sports involved now, plus Amazon and then there is the forward sales to countries around the world via 11Sports, BeInSports and a few more mainly controlled by the Gulf States. Canal+ model damaged by lack of advertising revenues. There is going to be a rethink into how football broadcasting is done and exactly why the Premier League have so many USA owners and part owners involved now, even Burnley is US owned now. Say it quietly but its going to happen soon, a European League will take off before long. The Premier League will soon want its own Broadcast set-up to make more of its broadcast rights. Just like Formula1 or like the NFL stuff is happening now way before the next Sky/BT deal is negotiated
BT is piss poor as well. I pay a tenner day pass through Now TV and the picture during the game keeps going out of focus. Fecking bugs the **** out of me..
So, with our four new signings possibly all injured are we taking on Everton with our championship winning team.
This happens to me on NOW TV too. Until a couple of months ago I got Sky Sports through my TalkTalk Youview digital TV box and it was great. But now TalkTalk have stopped that service and instead offered a discount on a years Sky Sports Now TV pass instead. Even though I now also have to pay an extra £3 a month or whatever it is to get HD (without which it just gives me a headache to watch) I still get the blurry image a few times each game
I don’t like to use ‘false position’ but I think it’s fair to say that Everton’s position in the league has flattered them this season. If you read match reports look at xg’s etc they’ve been efficient or ridden their luck depending on your perspective. Probably a bit of both. Depending on the side we have out I’d be disappointed not to get a result here... though this is a highly unpredictable league. Wonder what the pitch will be like.
