A new stadium gets you 70,000 gate and all sorts of new revenue streams, so thats why he would prefer that. Secondly due to naming rights and the sale price gained for ER, its a big bunce onto the bottom line.

Remember when Ridsdale had done a deal to sell ER and bank the cash whilst getting a Stadium built and paidfor by Coca Cola just off the M1 behind the Lord and Lady golf courses. All we had to do was get into the CL that season......

The only way to get a new stadium on the ER site, because your academy and everything is now next door on the Matthew Murray site, is to ground share until the new place is built

I thought about that, but they wouldn't have bought the new training ground unless they'd made up their mind about ER. Why would they spend squillions moving TA to ER if they planned to move the ground elsewhere?

I think the answer lies in the adjacent car parks. Park & ride is already in use for ER, so could be used more extensively whilst ER2 is built alongside it. I personally believe that's what's going to happen. Nothing else makes any kind of sense. Unless, of course, we're going to redevelop ER. For me, that was a hot option a year ago. With the opportunity C19 brings, it should be getting redeveloped right now. It's not, so why not? ER2?

My personal view is that we need to establish ourselves as a permanent premier league club before spending that sort of money. Look at Sheffield U last season to this.

It would have been perfect timing in hindsight but that kind of time frame isn't realistic for getting a major project started. The Anfield redevelopment took almost three years from being proposed to getting men on site and that's considered to be pretty lightening pace that I can't see happening with Leeds City Council (although arguably they have got better at getting proposals through.) The Fulham plans were granted permission eight years ago and the Tottenham ground took more than ten years to go from being proposed to being built.

What capacity do we think would be reasonable? I think 55,000 would allow us to keep enough atmosphere without becoming one of the tourist FC grounds but i'd like that to atleast be possible to expand to 65,000 were we ever to become a top four club.

Agree completely, it's not too long ago we were below 20,000 for some home games and it was soul destroying in the ground then. Imagine that in a 70,000 capacity ground. Every cloud has a silver lining though, at least I could get a ticket then.

Sheff Utd argument doesnt hold water in my view. The Blunts had a great first season but then went out to buy a lot of good players. A lot of good players added to players that had a very good promotion year and a very good first season. Bringing in lots of good players and shunting players who were very good last season onto the bench doesnt work. Guess what the Blunts are back to winning and getting points by bringing back players like Billy Sharpe. Poor buying and disrespecting loyalty is wrong.

Bielsa only brought in 4 players, but players who are much better than “good” players who are capable of turning games. We have been unlucky with Llorente but everyone knows his qaulity, Koch another International player who has been unlucky and both injuries to our new CBs was done on International duty. We even have a Brazilian that the media is raving about and asking how we only got him for £17m. But the team ethos and togetherness is the same as last season and the same players are involved. Alioski is playing more in the Prem than he did last season because of injuries.

This Summer we will bring in another 3 or 4 top players and integrate them into the team. No superstars, just talented individuals who will improve the team. The plan will be to improve and get more points next season. We are not the Blunts and Bielsa isnt Wilder and we have Orta who knows what Bielsa wants in every position. A plan to improve, unlike Wilder who just threw new players at it

Developing the south and west stands would increase capacity to 50,000 and at the same time make the stadium more symmetrical. It's important to maintain the current atmosphere by staying at ER and not wipe out 100 years of history by building what would probably be a soulless stadium.

If standing-room areas are ever brought in, as they are in Germany, capacity would increase to 60k +

    More than enough.

Morning all. The cheapest way to increase capacity would be to ask all season ticket holders to go on a diet.

Totally agree, we mustn't move from elland road the atmosphere is accepted by everyone,players.. manager's..fans to be unbelievable when in full voice, and nobody would disagree.
If we go to a new stadia the chances of replicating it would be minimal in my view let's up the noise levels even more and make it more ferocious for visitors.
On a personal note I would hate to think my once treasured swaying spot on the gelderd end, and later in the family stand would be consigned to dust if we moved <sorry>

Imagine the uproar if the bulldozers came to rip up the remembrance stones and plaques. This area is almost hallowed for hundreds of families now

We have spent a lot of time outside of the top division. We are a newly promoted side and I think we all need to remember that. We’ll probably only hold on to Bielsa for one more season and that’s when the most critical decision to get right kicks in with his replacement.

well said the biggest question to ask is if Bielsa was to get poached who would we like to take over, there are many teams who's manager has been pinched only for the team to go down. Then the stadium question is irrelevant, the stadium has been a good servant for Leeds and will continue to do so, as money needs to be spent on getting in the right players to move upwards, pockets of money should be spent on modernising specific areas, toilets come to mind, We need to be here for the long haul not a flash in the pan.
