In my mind, retrospectively, I used the wrong word(or spelling, you tell me) .

There were at least 2 juries. One tried Timothy Evans, convicted him & he was hung.
Christie was subsequently tried after Evans' death, and (among other convictions) was found guilty of Evans' crime. Evans was given a post mortem pardon.

    Hence my own correction.

That isn't the point I was making . It is the assumption that somehow it is more difficult for full time athletes than it was years ago, with better boots, pitches and balls that are a lot lighter than they would have been on a rain sodden pitch back then.

Some decent midfield play tonight, go a bit sloppy towards the end, from both sides TBH. Penalties, Scott’s penalty is one of the worst I’ve seen for ages. No confidence in his game at the moment, if he has to get confidence, it’s not from 30/40 minute sub appearances. He has to start, if he’s not good enough to start, then is he going to be any good coming off the bench?

A penalty was a special event back in the day. You had to catch the ball with both hands or take a players leg off to get a penalty awarded against you.
Hull City v Man U, August 1970 changed all that, now they are two a penny.

Only one jury for each trial. Though, in retrospect, I hadn't read back through the thread and seen that you were talking about more than one trial. Deflected by you mentioning the fish from Rillington.

There were penalties awarded back then for very little. If you were an away team in Europe. Bill Shankly would have confirmed that.
Looking back how many penalties would Waggy, and similar players at other clubs, have gotmawarded nowadays?

In Europe depending how much the ref was getting as a back hander and of course against an English team. Agree about that.
I'm talking the mid 60's in league games.. If penalties were given then as easily as they are now every game would have ended up like a Sunday League score, 8-7 and so on.
Although players like Franny Lee made a mockery of the laws of the game, now its an epidemic.

Yes, Lee Won Pen as he was known. Though ones like George Best never went down and carried on. Dread to think the penalty tally with the likes f Jock Davison and his counterparts at other clubs.

Why did Docherty, our best player tonight by a mile, not take a pen? Crazy

I hadn't talked about multi trials at that point. If explaining the intentional replacement of a word in an attempt at humour , it isn't humour as the recipient hasn't seen it.

I picked a street name at random in a flow of address names having been posted.

Most definitely I did. Seems to have generated some dialogue at least.
    Waste of time really.

My feelings also. To give the useless Scott the second PK rather than Docherty was more evidence of McCanns incompetence. His weak PK barely reached the goal line.

When he signed for us, I was interested to see that a lot of Rangers fans were extremely disappointed he was leaving and questioning that decision.

It seems he took a while for him to find his feet, but we are now starting to see what the Ranger fans were going on about.

You can change which commentary you listen to at the bottom right of the screen, either away commentary or home one.

I didn't see the game due to the time difference, it sounds as if we were on balance the better side. A good game to watch by all accounts, and a great goal by Docherty which I saw on a clip.

Unfortunate to go out on penalties, but on a plus side it was good to play them and get a feel for their strengths and weaknesses, with the league games in mind.
