Smith Rowe comes off and we are immediatel Yeah I thought Pepe had one of his better games. Hopefully he can keep improving. Saka proving to be insanely good for his age. Another goal and assist. Smith Rowe was quality again as well -hopefully he willbe fit for United. Down side .. we were lucky David Luiz didnt get sent of or do something insaine.. he was in one of those moods.
Such a pivotal game to win, very impressed with the urgency and work rate. Also thought Saka, ESR, Holding, Cedric Pepe, Leno had great games. Won't blow my own trumpet, but was spot on after the Chelsea win: Top performance!! Now that feels better than a good ****! Prediction 13 out of the next 15pts available pushing us back in to the top 8! COYG!! #1590 Last edited: Dec 26, 2020 straycat_67, Dec 26, 2020
Decent team and good subs bench for Wolves game - slightly concerned with Adama Traore up against Cedric, but let's hope he can have that flank on lock with some support from Pepe or Saka.
How the **** was that a penalty...let alone a sending off!! the Ref and VAR are ****ers! Okay I'd perhaps give the penalty for the clipping of heel but totally accidental..almost just a clash of feet/legs whilst in motion!! Double jeopardy strikes which I thought the laws changed against that for an "accidental foul"???
What a shame this game was completely ruined. I feel like a red and penalty in this case is harsh, but I can’t entirely complain, as he was last man in the box.
Sorry, but is it just Arsenal that seem to implode to such heights!! combined with some bloody bad luck!!!
I mean whatever. Freak of a game. When it was a proper game of football it was promising. We could lose this 5-1 and it's still promising right now as an Arsenal fan. Just get Gabriel, Holding and Mari together and choose two of them. Luiz should not be anywhere near this team in a 2 man central defence.
I agree it’s a freak of a game. but where are we really going in the league? results wise we look like we’ll finish outside the top 8 (possibly top 10) - which is really embarrassing in my opinion.
Oh come on. There's still loads of games left and we're in good form. We could easily get close to top 6. Apart from pool (now) and city, most other teams and dropping points every week home or away.
I’ll say again, whatever the process or where we are... finish outside the top 10 and I’m staunchly Arteta out at that point.
my first real solid evaluation of Arteta will be at the end of this season. This is why I say it depends results wise where we finish at that point.
But yes I agree, Arteta had nothing to do with today’s result. It was a combination of stupidity and freak occurrences. but if we finish outside the top 10 at the end of the season, no one can tell me it’s “part of the process” and things are looking peachy.
Totally gutted with todays result. Thought we were playing so well up to the sending off.. Hopefully we will not allow this to dent our confidence and we can push on again next game. I think we are starting to get there. Deff stick with Arteta
I'm a bit lost for words after that. So much went wrong. The officials were an absolute farce, and I hope Arteta rips the **** out of them, but Luiz....yes, he shouldn't have been sent off. But look at what he does when the referee's about to blow for HT. He meanders out of position, tries to compete for a ball in midfield, doesn't win the 1st ball, and then he's out of position, which leads to that entire situation at the end of the half. If he just stayed in position, that whole sequence doesn't happen, we go 1-0 up into HT and we have 11 men on the pitch. This doesn't absolve the referee and VAR officials for making a game-changingly catastrophic choice. But we didn't manage the game well in the closing moments of the first half and chaos ensues.... Villa next, with Runarsson likely to be in goal. Can't wait...
VAR was bullshit again. Not only should Luiz not have been sent off. I didn't think the Leno was was a clear goal scoring opportunity either. Not only that, but the ref was pulling us up for fouls (esp Pepe) when he'd cleanly won the ball.. ****ehouse all round from the officals tonight.
Leno got sent off for a blatant deliberate handball outside his area. That's a straight red card for a goalkeeper. It's a professional foul, so it'll only be 1 game, rather than 3, like many are suggesting. The Luiz red card we can have a squabble with the officials about, but the Leno one is clear as day. I don't know what the hell he was thinking. Nor did he complain or try to protest it either.
