    Very sad

Dustin Diamond has sadly died aged 44 after battling lung cancer.

The actor, best known for his role as Screech on the 90s teen drama Saved By The Bell, was admitted to hospital in Florida earlier this month.

Diamond's representative confirmed his death in a statement shared with Daily Star on Monday evening.

It read: "We are saddened to confirm of Dustin Diamond’s passing on Monday, February 1, 2021 due to carcinoma. He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago.

If you had to write your own exit script his would be pretty close to perfect. 100 years old, a knighthood, a legacy that'll be remembered for years to come and a quick, painless end.

    RIP Colonel Tom.

Captain Sir Tom Moore. Really sad to hear of his passing. He was an inspiration to many, both young and old, throughout 2020 and the amount of money he raised through his efforts for charity was staggering. RIP.

Raising £33,000,000 in your hundredth year, in order to make the world a better place.

Not a lot can say they did that.

    RIP.
