Hull City can now provide an update on the departure of two players. Under-23s midfielder Jordan Hickey has left the Club after a mutual agreement was reached to cancel his contract. The Club would like to thank Jordan for his efforts and wish him well for the future. David Milinkovic has also left the club. The winger joined MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps on loan in January 2020 and played 16 games for the Canadian side, triggering a clause in the agreement to make the move permanent for a fee. Milinkovic played eight times for the Tigers, with his only goal coming against Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
Fit and match sharp he will be a big improvement on what we have at present. His star must have waned considerably in his time away.
I'm really sorry to see Batty go, always have 100%, a good passer of the ball, but McCann didn't feel he was good enough. Under Adkin's, he was developing well, but not really given a chance by McCann. Having said that, Smallwood and Jones probably are just in front of him in the pecking order, so probably best for all concerned he moves on and gets game time.
To be fair, Rick has seen a lot more of Batty than most of us, and he is a pretty good judge of a player. I thought he would kick on under Atkin's but unfortunately, he left, and IMO was never really given a fair chance by McCann. Last season, when he did play, he was one of the few that looked as if he cared.
What , some people saying that he looked like he was going to be a decent player for us under Adkins but didn't really get a chance under McCann ?
He's had plenty of chances, last season he made 19 starts, he only made 22 under Adkins the year before. Obviously he's been much more limited this year, but he's never really grabbed them. The Fleetwood game was the best he's played in ages and he still got hauled off at HT (unfairly. Yes I do think Slater is better for us this year, but it's very tight. They're both on a similar level. And if Slater has shown nothing this season in your opinion, you can't really say Batty has done anything more. There's certainly not a huge difference between the two. I thought Slater was going to be a complete waste when we brought him in, I expected nothing from him and he's done better than I imagined. I like his energy, he buzzes around like Doc and Honeyman do (without the quality).
John have to disagree on one point, I personally thought he was a bang average distributor of a football. Doesn't matter anyway if someone hasn't signed a contract offered by Ehab then whilst on the naughty step they can't play anyway
Fair play to disagree but at least offer some reasoning It's back to my original point, if he didn't come through the academy, nobody bats an eyelid at yesterday's news
I don't really understand this logic. I think every fan wants players to come through the academy to do well. So yes, there is a bit more disappointment that an academy player who some thought had potential is to leave. I agree with your point, but I don't think that's particularly a surprise or anything unusual.
Hull City Under-23s defender Danny Lupano has joined League of Ireland Premier Division side Derry City on loan until 30th June.
Young goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright has signed a new three-year contract, with a Club option of a further year!
Slater was garbage tonight and while you might not agree with me, City's coaching staff do and they must be doing something right as we're top
