I have no idea what this is about but if it’s anything to do with detecting a community transmission I, along with everyone else in WA, will be absolutely livid.
We have had no community transmission in WA for ten months. The only cases we had were those in hotel quarantine. As a result we have been able to live our lives fairly normally.
    Stand by for more info.

100%, it's one of the main reasons we've been able to keep it under control.

The Federal government is even letting the states determine their own border restrictions. If the EU allowed it's member countries to do the same they may have a chance of bringing it under control.

Whilst it may be more difficult in the UK the same proceedures could be implemented ay a county level.

I don't live in the UK anymore, but all my family are there and they all say the same thing. The government change their minds seeming on a daily basis....there is no mid to long term plan, its very much the here and now, which is no way to deal with this. I also believe as an Island, we could have stopped this in its tracks (Much like New Zealand) from the get go.... stop all transport coming in and going out, in conjunction with the original total lock down, the death numbers would have been significantly lower....

100% agree. The US could have done similar instead of letting a loon grab hold of the microphone.

We allowed goods into the country but the crews had to remain on board from what i remember. Imports were sterilised upon arrival.

In the early stages there was a time lapse video of the movement of people in the US after spring break based upon their mobile phone gps coordinates, bloody scary to say the least.

The problem as i see it is that a number of world leaders either made their decisions based on popularity, not what was best for their citizens. Could you imagine how much travel and therefore community transmission would have reduced if you had to quarantine for 14 days if you travelled from County Durham to Yorkshire.

It's almost as if they aren't worried about how popular they are are what the media will say about such measures.....

Just had a message from family over there, they were out with friends and said it was surreal, everyone's phones seemed to go off together with notifications of the announcement and the atmosphere changed completely, they said it really spooked them

Imagine it will just be a blip. These things are going to happen with the quarrantine system. There isn't a lot that can be done.

These short, hard lockdowns are a small price to pay for the stage we are at over here now.

That’s the problem with rumours. There’s nothing official that he was a taxi driver. He was tested regularly due to his job.

A quick edit. Yes he was a ride share driver but there’s no evidence he was working whilst infected so that has to be a good thing.

Who supplies the security for these things. My brother lives in Perth and runs a prison and immigration centre.

News media up here in FNQ reporting that the security guard also worked as a Uber eats driver.
Bad news if true, good luck and stay safe WA.

Security is a mixture of police and privately sourced. In fairness the security in Perth have been very good. I don’t think for one second that the security guard in question did anything that would put him at risk and as soon as he had symptoms he went to get checked and did everything correctly.
It’s just unfortunate that this happened. The real issue is that there are still people blatantly ignoring any direction and doing their own thing because to actually think of anyone but themselves is a totally alien concept to them.

Am I understanding it right, one person in WA tests positive so the whole area goes into hardcore lockdown?
