Agree save that it’s not just northern England and Wales but essentially all parts of the Union outside south east England where any extra money should be diverted too.
Comparing NZ with the Uk isn't like comparing chalk with cheese. However a much closer comparison is Britain and Ireland with Japan. Both island nations on the edge of trading blocs. Not too dissimilar populations per square mile. Japan, of course, had the disadvantage of being hit with covid far earlier and didn't have the same opportunity to prepare for it. The death rate comparison between these island nations is stark.
One thing about the Japanese is the fact that majority wear masks on a normal daily basis, whereas millions in the UK don't. This makes it harder for Covid to spread.
