    GIVEN > KRUL
    HUGHES > SIMPSON
    O'BRIEN < COLOCCINI
    WOODGATE > S TAYLOR
    BERNARD > R TAYLOR
    SOLANO > OBERTAN
    DYER < CABAYE
    SPEED - TIOTE
    ROBERT > JONAS
    SHEARER > BA
    BELLAMY > BEST

This team isn't even close at the minute BUT with Ben Arfa and Santon to come in we could be a lot better but there's no guarantee that either will perform. Tiote can be better than Speed, just needs to cut out the mistakes.

During the Sir Bobby days Stevie Taylor never really played, more of a Woodgate like.

Here is how I would do it:

    Given

    Hughes - Taylor - Coloccini - Bernard

    Solano - Tiote - Cabaye - Robert

    Shearer - Bellamy

Yeah, I think Sir Bobby wanted a Woodgate - Bramble partnership (Bramble had potential then) but Woody was always injured so it always ended up being O'Brien - Bramble. O'Brien never let us down like

Loving all these people putting HBA and Cabeye in when they have barely managed 10 games between them.

You can't really do this, how do we know Cabaye won't flop after his first seven games? What if Krul goes on to be our stopper for the next 15 years? But anyway, as it's fun...

    Shay Given Tim Krul
    Aaron Hughes Danny Simpson
    Steve Taylor Steve Taylor
Jonathan Woodgate Fabriccio Coloccini - tie
    Olly Bernard Ryan Taylor
    Nobby Solano Gabrielle Obertan
Gary Speed Cheik Tiote - Tiote has one season, Speed had hundreds. Awesome player, time will tell.
Jermaine Jenas Yohan Cabaye never rated Jenas even when he was with us.
Laurent Robert Jonas Gutierrez - tie
    Craig Bellamy Hatem Ben Arfa
    Alan Shearer Demba Ba

    Shay Given Tim Krul
    Aaron Hughes Danny Simpson
Steve Taylor Steve Taylor (He is better now)
    Jonathan Woodgate Fabriccio Coloccini
    Olly Bernard Ryan Taylor
    Nobby Solano Gabrielle Obertan
Gary Speed Cheik Tiote (tie, Tiote is good but too many bookings, Speed had experience and was a leader)
Kieron Dyer (when fit) Yohan Cabaye
Laurent Robert Jonas Gutierrez (Jonas works for the team defensively)
    Craig Bellamy Hatem Ben Arfa
    Alan Shearer Demba Ba

Shay Given Tim Krul - I think Krul will be the better keeper eventually but Given is a top keeper - as Cabaye found out!
Aaron Hughes Danny Simpson - Not even a competition for me. Hughes was aplayer we should never have sold (just like Watson before him)
    Steve Taylor Steve Taylor -
Jonathan Woodgate Fabricio Coloccini - Would have been Woody all day long but Colo has been every bit of classy in the last season or 2.
Olly Bernard Davide Santon - I know he hasn't played yet and has it to prove, but I feel I've seen enough of him in Italy to judge him to be better than Bernard. Olly was a good solid player but had limitations. Santon could be a bit special. probably more of a right back but we've bought to play left this year so that's what I'll class him as.
Nobby Solano Gabrielle Obertan - As much as Obertan has done well, Solano is one of the right wingers to grace the PL nevermind this club. There is a good reason Real madrid were sniffing. Dead balls with him, Robert and Shearer was scary.
Gary Speed Cheik Tiote - Impossible to split but Gary Speed is an absolute legend who delivered for this club over a very long period. More of a goal threat than Cheik and a better passer of the ball. Cheik has the better destructive game though for all Speedo was a good reader and could spot danger.
Kieron Dyer Yohan Cabaye - I'd have Dyer over Jenas as the attacking half of the midfield. Dyer was unbelieveable at times under Robson. Cabaye is every bit as good.
Laurent Robert Jonas Gutierrez - I love Jonas but the end product does it for me)
Craig Bellamy Hatem Ben Arfa - I think Benny is the better player but he has it all to prove for me. Bellamy was excellent for all he is an absolute **** who I despise
Alan Shearer Demba Ba - No contest

Of course squad wise the squad we had then was a hell of a lot stronger. Plus Shola was actually of some use at the time!
