By definition it's not hard. Number of points per game played is THE measure. Certainly is after 46 games is it not? Why would it not be at this juncture?
Form comes into play as a result of injuries to key players. Momentum is a big factor impacting form due to a string of good/bad results. Even the bloody weather can be a determinant degree of freedom or restraint.

If, and I mean if, we have the strongest squad in the league, the best tactical manager/coaches, we stand a decent chance. Luck re injuries of key players will undoubtably play a part - as will the luck of our competition.

The owners of Littlewoods Pools figured that out.

    0 - 98 minutes =

    120 mph.
    Frenetic.
    Aggression.
    No quality.
    Lots of sweat.
    Lots of leg tattoos.
Plenty of rolling about on the floor.
Yelping from the cadavers, that suddenly re-joined the living.

    98 - 104 minutes.

Santos manager sent to the stands.
Obligatory posturing by both sets of players, would be pushed to call it a melee, but...

98 minutes and 30 seconds, a rare piece of quality. Cross, header back across the goal, um nulo as they say over there.
    Job done for the greens.

    Overall = ****.

3 wins out of the last 4 matches.
3 clean sheets in the last 4 matches.
On that form we will be in the top two.
Did you see how lucky Donny was against Lincoln?
Did you see Posh beaten by Shrews?
Sunderland and Ipswich both dropping points.
It's been a great day for Hull City AFC.
If you can't be happy when we are top then you will never be happy.

The difficulty here is that there's a big gap in the number of games played by quite a few teams. To have played 3/4 league games less in the same amount of time is actually a big advantage when it comes to freshness. We saw against Accrington how the extra rest can make a big difference. But that comes to bite you in the backside when you're then having to make up games in an already stupid schedule. In all honesty, so far the schedule has been pretty good, many of the midweek matches have been in cups which most sides completely rotate for.

It's only a judge after 46 because everyone has played everyone twice, the schedule messed up this season. We're past the half way point but haven't played everybody yet, and I assume pretty much everyone is the same. It's still difficult to gauge who's the best sides as its all so close (thanks largely to the salary cap).

Peterborough are the L1 Derby, perennial bottlers. One thing I noticed today, Szmodics, JCH & Dembele have missed a combined 2 games all season. That's pretty insane, surely it can't last all season.

It has been a great day though you're right, no surprise to see loads of teams dropping points when the games are coming thick and fast. Depth is key.

11 more wins and I think that'll get us up, 13 definitely will

    Sunderland conceded last minute today.
I thought them and the posh would get 3 points today but they didn't.
I would concede that Donny only being 3 points behind with 3 games to get them looks better than our position.
We have a better goal difference so that's worth a point.
Also don't forget that teams near the bottom fight as hard as teams near the top so there are no guaranteed points.
Average 2 points a game from now on in and we will be top 2.

Good point. Its no accident that Gorgeous George, by far our best player and the Leagues leader in Assists, has been object of two nasty challenges in the last two games. Firstly Accrington tried to cut his leg in half with a tackle that should have been an automatic red, and today he took an awful blow to the back of his head which also went uncarded.. Sooner rather than later our opponents will succeed in sending George to the sidelines for a few games. You can bank on it.

Even though we huffed and puffed in the 2nd half, I did enjoy the first half and especially Crowley's involvement. Great to have a player at this level who can pick a pass and look comfortable with the ball. Docherty had an excellent game, he really is growing into a good signing.

Terry admitted that changing Crowley's role in the 2nd half didn't work, and it seemed to disjoint the way we were playing. However, credit to the team for seeing the game out which was crying out for us to get a 2nd goal. Greaves and Burke had good games, though early on Greaves looked as if he had the wrong studs in as he was slipping over. Wonderful interception - block by Greaves in the first half to cut out an always definite goal.

All in all a good 3 points and Crowley will only get better.

Agree, looks a very good player and will only get better.
Hope he doesn't over-elaborate too much though, he seems at times to avoid playing a simple pass.
Stupid tactical change by Terry; that was never going to work. However, maybe what he was seeing and trying to address was the difficulty playing Honeyman and Crowley together. They look for the same space. It's going to be interesting to see how he accommodates them both.
