So he could catch the ball after it has hit his thigh? It may have hit his thigh, but the arm went towards the ball
bollox Tom, utter utter bollox. The ball was going in the net. Brushed his thigh and then he flicked his hand to save it. twats
Ok it's not a pen by the wording of the law. In this case I think it should be a pen but I think we're seeing another example of where the wording of the law is not suitable for VAR.
Tom's right on this one. Deflections on to the arm are not handballs under the "clarified" handball rule.
I hate this 'can't blame var it's the people operating it' bollocks; it's a ****ing cop out. Isn't that the entire point of why it's a complete waste of time? Same people making the decisions, we get some right and some wrong just like we always did. I did point out before it came in that I couldn't for the life of me understand why people thought that technology would make **** officials suddenly competent. They're making it up as they go along and still getting plenty wrong. It's no different to what we had pre-var except we have a slower and less enjoyable game. Lob it in the ****ing skip.
Arrived late and just seen the handball. Unbelievable Obvious penalty Literally used his hand to save it off his thigh
it wasn’t a deflection on to the arm. It was a deflection that the defender then saved with a movement of his hand. World class save.
Absolutely. The logic is that it'd be nigh-on impossible to intentionally position your hand such that the ball caroms off another body part and on to the hand, though. And that's probably true here: I doubt Matty Cash has enough of a background in trigonometry to play the carom. His hand was likely out because he was stretching to get his leg in the way.
Ings deep and Nathan high up top is an interesting little tactical tweak. I like the fact Ralph is trying something different as haven’t been scoring goals recently. VAR can still **** off though.
It wasn't, though. The arm was already out before the ball hit his thigh. Matty Cash cannot move at the speed of light, and consequently didn't have the time to get his arm in the way in the fraction of a second after the ball hit him.
He stuck his arm out to stop the ball. Definite. Should be pen & by the laws a red. Var has gone too fine line. Not fit for purpose.
A video camera doesn’t make a ****e decision, it’s the official operating. In fact in this instant he was correct, so it’s the crap rules. I’m convinced there were far more pants decisions before VAR. If VAR goes we can no longer moan about ****e like Watford punching it in the goal.
