The thing that gets me is that the bare minimum we expected was that he'd drill our back line into being a bloodyminded unit that would get us an easy 6-10 points that we didn't deserve Instead we've seen the opposite, as he has us playing football that exposes their weaknesses and cost us 4-6 points in December alone
This match shows that we are miles behind the good teams. I may have had an angry moment at HT about VAR but lets not pretend that we were ever in this match. 2nd best all over the field and we will only be in Europe next season if we win a cup.
So much to unpack. There was no real fight all game. Defensively we were all over the place. Knocking balls over the top for Son was our only plan for attack. Just confusing and bad all around. What really bugs me though is that we've apparently signed 3 Mendes players at Jose's behest and they've all been flops/unused. I'm sure Levy thought it was great that Jose and his agents were getting him deals done but it increasingly just feels like we're being used by them. It's really embarrassing.
As I said in the first half, if we had Toby doing that we could have reasonably expected some of those balls to find him and send him on his way And yet he was on the bench Why?
3-1 FT. Poor team selection, awful subs and an absolutely shambolic second half. Twatkinson was shocking, as usual, but the decision to play without a striker when chasing the game was worse. Mourinho should hold his hands up and say he ****ed this up, but he won't.
Can't lie, wouldn't lose a wink of sleep if he was sacked tonight. Won't happen, too costly to do so right now but this ain't working under him. Said on the Prem board I can't back him any more. It's gonna be a painful watch the rest of this season, worse so if Kane's injury is a long one. We'll likely be saying bye to him in the summer too if a big club comes in, wouldn't blame him either, he's too good to be associated with this bollocks and we'll only be holding him back if he stays here. Fun times, man, fun times.
That’s the thing...if you’re going to bring this defend-defend mentality than at least get the team good at it and we play **** football and get Top 4/maybe a trophy. Grin and bear it. When you get that wrong and and there is zero entertainment or joy watching the team than **** it! Rather have an attack minded manager and actually enjoy football. With the players we have we’d end up Top 4 anyway just by playing to our strengths, to the club philosophy. Look at what Poch achieved with his style of play. Had really good defensive record as part of it but it was all about our style of play knowing we have world class guys up top. Didn’t spend big either to achieve it and just loads of memories of great games/results for the most part of it - punching above our weight. Won’t remember hardly anything enjoyable under this guy, lost seasons, no entertainment and going backwards in the league and still don’t think we‘ll win the league cup to make up for it all. all this bs about players buying into it...yes a few good results but they’ll be properly ****ed of by it now the results arent there either. Our top players who could sign for clubs playing attacking football and winning vs. running/chasing with **** all to show for it. It’s the very fact they have to buy into this style...just shows how wrong it is...short termist.
OK serious question - If Jose walked (I know he won't) but if he did is there manager available that you would like to take the job?
