Worth remembering Magennis did score in both games. The issue wasn't the players, it was the play itself. We refused to play it on the ground or even to get it out wide for crosses - the one time we did, Magennis put it in the net (still no idea on whether he was actually off or not).
Its not about singling players out its about systems and the pacey front three had worked wonders in the last two games getting in behind defenders.
I feel I must apologise to all of you who managed to get iFollow with help from me. Sometimes they should pay us to watch. We were dreadful throughout. Wrong team choice and tactics that never changed.
I felt josh contributed more than Whyte last Saturday so would have gone with Magennis. End of the day, it wasn't anything other than too many below par performances that cost the game today. I'm sure in hindsight he'll think he should have made more changes and rest some tired legs, not fewer.
Disappointing night thought they were more aggressive than us especially in defence against attack. Wilks for me was poor , not his usual bullying self, KLP had a fantastic run but again not enough. Not particularly good service going forward either has a team. Overall not good enough and we all know if you don't perform at the top of your game in this league there's a decent chance you get beat. One to forget and hope we get back to winning ways in Saturday
Thought we got out bullied in this one, on what looked a very short and narrow pitch. The disallowed Magennis goal was a big factor because both sides thought it was a goal. Long beaten at the near post for the first goal too. Stanley deserved it, they looked fresh and fired up where as we looked as though we could have done with another days rest.
I blame McCann and Allam. If they deserved praise after the last two results surely they deserve to take the blame for this.
Seeing as I have to work for a ****ing living there's no way I can watch games like this on a weekday, that kick off at basically mid morning. I've seen the score. I'm not ploughing through 14 pages of misery. So I'm assuming; We were out muscled and out played by a team that wanted it more. Our clueless manager changed a winning side for no particular reason. We looked tired. Some players had their worst game ever for us. The ref was ****. Once we went a goal down we did nowt to try to change how we were playing. Long made an avoidable error. We was leggy. The pitch was crap. They had some big units and we was out fought and out thought. And finally we'll now be lucky to get a play off place.
One to forget about tonight, too many things wrong. I doubt we'll play as badly as that again this season, we probably won't play on a pitch that bad or against an opponent who played like they were on steroids. Bring on Swindon at the weekend.
They certainly did. Did you see that guy chase down Elder in added time when the game was really over?
We handed them the initiative with team selection and choice of tactics. The quick fluent movement of the last two games was thrown out and replaced with ineffective long ball. Once they had gained the momentum it was never coming back. There was nothing in that pitch to prevent passing, we (McCann) just decided not to try it.
On a pitch like that & against a team like that, we needed to dig in, make them come to us & then we get in behind them. We didn’t, only KLP tried running at them, we had a few half chances to put crosses in, but the crosses were poor, or cut out by the defence.
