Going back to the 1960s I remember teams playing that much if they were involved in Europe. There were Cup replays, two legged League Cups as well. I remember Leeds playing on Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday at that time and having to play a game they needed to win the league on the Monday after a Cup Final. And this was on pitches like ploughed fields. And they had smaller squads. At the same age as KLP George Best played 56 games in a season when they won the league. When I worked in Leeds a Leeds fan I knew was sent to their Hull office for a week. He went to a City midweek game. First thing he said when I saw him was how he wished Leeds could play on a pitch like that every week.
If anything, I'd say that would be a reason to play the smaller lads and keep the ball on the deck more. The passing and movement have been so much better when we don't have a target man to hoof it to.
Interesting change. Hopefully Wilks tries to pass the ball to him tonight. Though Whyte off the bench could make a good impact. Surprised he's kept Coyle in - thought he'd give Emmanuel a start just for fitness. Shame we can't have both of them on at once, at least in our current tactical situation.
Would have had Magennis as sub again , would have brought him on when our faster front 3 have tired there big lads at the back out.
What a wimp. How embarrassing, he’s one of our own, from Hull. ......And wearing gloves??! Come on City, get a grip.
At least there aren't peculiar markings all over it which confuse anyone watching from outside the M62 corridor.
Well.....a thoroughly dodgy looking opening 10, barely strung 2 passes together, just hoofing it.....Accrington have stepped up MASSIVELY from last week
No problem with that. They will have a point to prove so will be up for it. Once we've adjusted to the conditions and let them blow themselves out a bit, we can start playing more. 0-2
