FA Cup today, Burnley at the Cottage, ko 2:30pm and live on BT Sport Extra 1. With the number of games, recovery from the covid crisis there will be changes to the line up for this game. Much depends on availability, who needs some game time and also trying to win. Scott holds the FA Cup in high esteem but must be prioritizing the league, and we have very important relegation opponents next. I anticipate Burnley will have a similar outlook as ourselves, so it will be a close game, hopefully entertaining, and hopefully we have our shooting boots at the ready, a Mitro hat trick would be very welcome! COYW's.
Agreed 2WS, Mitro scoring will be a boost to his confidence. The important one though is midweek. Glad to have something to watch this afternoon.
It's a strange one, everyone always loves a cup run but at the moment obviously the league is the priority. I said before, given the draw we have it's a real chance to reach the quarter finals, so its tempting to look and wonder just how far we could get. I noticed Parker has added some young players to the squad, Fabio Carvalho and Sylvester Jasper, so be good to see them involved and see how they get on. I think we will make changes but it will still be a strong team we have out, the likes of Mitro, Lemina, Onomah all just recently back and needing game time so would expect them to start, with some other squad players like Bryan, Kebano, Kamara maybe playing too, so will be a strong team out. You wonder how strong Burnley will go, considering they only just played a tough game on Thursday night at Liverpool and like us will be looking ahead to the midweek league games, they could make even more changes than us!
Rodak, Hector, Ream, Adarabioyo, Bryan, De Cordova Reid, Anguissa, Lemina, Onomah, Kamara, Mitro Subs - Areola, Tete, Odoi, Loftus Cheek, Reed, Cav, Kebano, Lookman, Carvalho Plenty of changes but as expected still a fairly strong team.
Difficult condition I suppose but an awful watch. Giving the ball away far too easily. Hopefully better in 2nd half.
Very sloppy in possession, something you don't usually say about us under Parker, one thing we do is keep the ball well. Hector is really struggling, looks a totally different player from the one we watched in the championship last season. Not just him though, theres a few out there maybe showing why Parker doesn't play them more regularly.
Being bossed out of the game 1st half, Hector has been woeful and others not too far behind him. Surely it can only improve, we'll see.
Very soft pen that one, but the defending is so poor. The pass to absolutely nobody from Ream is what causes them to get on the attack to start with. Hector and Ream absolutely shocking
Memories of the early season league games, poor defending and just looking absolutely clueless out there. Losing 3-0 to a team that have struggled for goals all season. Even though its not our strongest team out there, thats a poor result.
It makes you worry that if Tosin or Andersen were out for whatever reason, Hector and Ream are what we have as back up
Summed up by who played okay; Bryan; BCD; Kebano; Carvalho. I hope the pitch recovers it was as bad as the score, at least it had a good excuse. Time to buy a centre forward, quickly, Nzola being mentioned!
One to quickly forget about I think. We now start a run of league games where we need to start picking up points. Brighton(A), West Brom(A), Leicester(H), West Ham(H), Everton(A), Sheff Utd(H). Theres the next 6, am I dreaming to say I think we can be getting 10-12 points from these games? I fear the worst if we don't tbh, this is the run of games now that could decide our season.
Mitro did nothing to show that he should be back in the starting line up. Hector, Ream, Kamara and Onomah were just dreadful, the rest were just poor. Hope Brighton's pitch is in a better condition. Need to try and forget this match and at least it eases fixture congestion.
Although I didn't think we played well, all 3 of Burnley goals were dubious. 1st - Vydra was in an offside position, interfering with play as he went to duck under the cross. 2nd - was a shoulder to shoulder barge by Hector and Vydra went down but in the opinion of the Ref penalty was given. 3rd - Rodriguez came from an offside position to chest the ball for the Long to score. The game showed the reasons for our early season struggle with the two center back, they still have no confidence in passing or positional skills and were like Bambi on ice. Thought Mitro was OK. made two shots out of nothing that the keeper had to save, and had the goal disallowed for Onomah ? being slightly offside ? according to VAR. Let's hope we can get the confidence and cohesion back into the team for Brighton on Wednesday and get a result.
Thick and fast, next up tonight, Brighton & Hove Albion ko 19:30 and live on BT Sport 3. No news of new injuries so lets hope the 1st team can back on track and get a result tonight. A big, big game, we need the points guys and girls.
Rode our luck tonight v Brighton but could have taken all 3 points at the end with Dunk clearing off the line. Started well but then started giving the ball away too many times. Thought Mitro looked more interested once he came on, something I've not seen for a while. Must do better v West Brom.
Areola our MOTM, could've been a very comfortable win for Brighton if not for him. Not much more to say about that one from me.
