spot on and i have to agree, LJ is not scared about making a choice and sticking with it whether it be a change in formation or a positional change that may even look strange to us 'know it all' fans.

LJ said that O9 couldn't slot in at full back just now as his shoulder injury prevents him from taking throw ins.
That the most bizarre thing I've ever heard a manager say surely someone else could throw the ball in does it always have to be the full back?

It baffled me too but I think it was Smug put forward a compelling reason why it's important, to do with it dragging players out of position which can be a problem if you lose possession from the throw.

It's probably for the best if it means he has to play in CM because that's where he should be anyway and I think Johnson will see that.

Not being argumentative mate but I don't find that bizarre at all.

Johnson's tactics are totally dependant on the shape of the team. If you pull Willis out of the centre, to take a defensive throw in, where does O'Nien sit? And if it's a throw, in a more attacking situation, it would mean Diamond dropping back to take the throw which diminishes the attack. Otherwise you have to pull Scowen out of midfield to take it. If the ball is lost you're leaving Leadbitter alone in the centre. I doubt any other position takes as many throws as full back tbh, so it's important imo.

Oops, just seen Nacho posted at the same time.

For myself I think I need him to play in midfield a bit more to come to a reasonable opinion as to his best position... but I would certainly give him a chance there.

Leads, Scowen, 09 and 2 or 3 up top?

Saw one of your posts today saying we aren't shìt.
I agree, I think we are decent and went close under Ross and even under the dire Parky.
I saw a post from someone else saying we are as bad under Johnson as Parky.
    That's horse shìt imho.

The way things are progressing now ie new owner, manager etc, I think we are heading in the right direction.

It might not happen this season due to the efl bullshit restrictions but I don't think they will last, hopefully get overturned.a positive attitude towards attacking football
He's made mistakes but so does everyone.
You learn by mistakes and the man who doesn't make mistakes doesn't do anything.
    Yes I think there's a lot of improvement .
The EFL wage cap bollox is a big hindrance which hopefully gets scrapped.
But overall I think we're heading in the right direction.

Yeah we haven't seen much of him in that position but he looks like he's got the attributes to me. I'd be tempted to drop Scowen and play O'Nien ahead of Leads and Winchester, Scowen's played alright lately but he never looks like scoring whereas Luke is relatively dangerous in attack and we really need other players to chip in with goals.

No problem lads didn't think asking a player to move 10 yards from his normal position could have such an affect but every days a school day eh.

Scowen has been good at passing, tackling and running about, his finishing however, after getting into good positions has been abysmal.

It would be useful to see if 09 can score more easily than Scowen.

If I was O'Brien I'd be making myself heard after yesterday. He was in three excellent positions twice, in the first half, and once in the second. He seems to be an unselfish player but the compliment needs to be returned.

He was free in the box and McGeady put far too much on the pass.

He was free in the box when Wyke went through and lashed the ball well wide.

He was totally unmarked when Power shot into the side netting.

The lad is doing everything right and isn't getting the credit, or service, he deserves imo.

Exactly right Nacho. When I did my fa coaching badges, it’s a very early thing they tak about. Minimal disruption to the team by having the right playe take the throw.

they had Love taking almost al, of theirs yesterday but, fir any on his opposite flank, him and the lb would swap.

if a cm takes the throw in a defensive third, then the run would have to fill their spot in midfield.

in years gone by, it didn’t matter, but, from an analytical side, it makes a lot more sense.

If Onion is played in his best position, (attacking) midfield, he doesn’t need to take throw-ins.
Power is doing ok at RB

Great to see Luke back yesterday.
When Gooch and Hume also come back just watch the difference.
