Looked same same old for 30 minutes, the goal suddenly gave us energy and we looked better. Semenyo for me slows things down in and around the box, several times he could have released players in great positions but turned to face our goal and pass back to a defender. Kalas is awesome.
For the final hour of the game we played with more energy than we have for a while. Oleary played well made 1 terrific save and his handling was good. Moore made 1 mistake but played well, Kalas was absolutely superb. I would like to see Semenyo instead of being pushed out wide, playing in a position that brought him his goal breaking from central midfield, he linked well with Palmer (although I am sure I will be told he was sh1t) Wells I thought was a handful today, put in a lot of effort. PS:- Matty Taylor is a red, he hates Rovers.
A comfortable enough win and let's hope we can emulate scores like this to stay in the hunt in the Championship.
Anyone who has not seen Semenyo’s goal. Thought him and Wells together was better than I’ve seen for a while playing central. https://streamja.com/akB5W
Nice to see Semenyo getting on the score sheet, should be a confidence booster for the lad..Great win for the City today, topped off with Taylor scoring 2 against the gas!!
Yet another striker ruined by lack of a creative midfield and never playing to his strengths that are similar to Wells + the obsession of LJ and now Holden to force our strikers to play out wide.
I disagree, he did have plenty of chances IMO, was also out a lot with injuries......Wasn't for the lack of trying I'll give him that, but just not good enough for championship level..
Taylor just like Diedhiou, Martin, Wells and Semenyo, either have/had to feed on either long hopeful balls or being pushed out wide, we never once attempted to play to his strengths and that is exactly the same for Wells. But as you say yet another not good enough at championship level player and who had the final say in transfers?
It was quite a cheap purchase if I remember and was worth the money, not only to give him a chance but also good, just to piss off the gas..He was a trier, just not quite good enough, hence why only the likes of Oxford were willing to give him a go.......He's been injured a lot for them too..so was the right move for him.
There is not enough ways to say this but i'll try again, we could sell all our strikers and sign Messi, Ronaldo, Kane, Vardy, we could resurrect John Atyeo and we would still not score many goals at all and would still be a bang average side that more often than not loses/struggles against lower more physical teams because even that illustrious list of goalscorer's need supply and the right type of supply from wing backs and midfield, a supply that suit their individual skill sets.
Great and unexpected result. I was following it on Sky and Paul Merson said we were under the cosh early on, but the penalty (wtf was Fielding doing ??) seemed to give us belief. I see no reason why we can't give Sheffield United a good game, and who knows.....
