the difference with letting go for nowt / smallish fee v having to buy a player on say a 3 year contract is a big loss better to decide that paying half that loss to the player [ or less than] should the club wish to keep him for 2 or 3 years is a profit … should he continue to score 13 + goals a season …………….. Bristol City make their move for 22-year-old defender https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/bristol-city-make-their-move-for-22-year-old-defender/
We need young athletic wing backs as well, I suspect Holden still hopes that maybe he can patch things up with Williams and maybe Walsh and eventually get them fit enough to play. Not holding my breath.
We need LB cover. If DaSilva is out long term, we only have Rowe, who was himself brought in as cover, and I doubt was ever intended to be played as much as he currently is, so it does need addressing.
Robins in for Johansen? Bristol City are reported - by the Norwegian media - to have joined the chase for Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen, who is expected to join QPR.
Williams to feature for Under-23s Monday, January 25th 2021 Joe Williams is set to play for the Under-23s tomorrow (Tuesday), Head Coach Dean Holden has confirmed. The Young Robins head to South Wales (7pm) to face Swansea City in the Professional Development League. Williams has been gradually integrated into first-team training in recent weeks as he continues his recovery from thigh and hamstring injuries, and his appearance for the Under-23s will help bolster his fitness. Meanwhile, Fulham loanee Steven Sessegnon has returned to full training as of this morning (Monday). https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/williams-to-feature-for-under-23s/
You missed out the best bit, Nathan Baker has sustained a thigh injury setting him back another 4 weeks.
Very sad, as he is a good player. I wonder if he knows he has a weak body, as for his size and stature, he has never seemed a dominant physical in your face CB, maybe he knows he can't? A real shame as I like him, but since he has been with us, it's one injury after another?
Wow I wasn't expecting that reply and I have to say I cannot agree, I believe part of his problem is he is far too rash in his tackling and blocking, he seems just like Kalas to have no fear, Kalas has had his fair share of injuries but him and Baker are both uncompromising and that is a recipe for injuries. I may be wrong but I suspect that in Bakers case it is more difficult to recover quickly if you like 'all to the ale', not a great recipe for recovery.
It's usual January bollox from BCFC to make it look like they are trying to sign players, it happens every January and far too often we end with somebody that nobody has ever heard of, that hasn't played in so long by the time they are fit the season is over. I'll believe it when I see it, unless it's somebody who can actually make a difference I say stay with what we have, no more wing and a prayer signings please.
to be honest with the injuries and those coming back we have all we need .. would need to be what was said " improve the squad" so need to ship one out and get a better one in … didn't work with Brownhill though! hope we had a good sell on clause him … could move in the summer!
