Whilst I disagree, your opinion is still respected and I take on board what you say. Just bear in mind though, in the near future there will be an 80/90/100% black or BAME England team. They will be selected on merit because they are the best and most capable footballers to represent us in the opinion of the manager. When everyone accepts that, without comment ,then it's possible I'll come more around to your way of thinking....bollix is bollix and we can't have it both ways
And rightly so Jammy, but the BBC and SkySports in particular are giving Bames, etc jobs because they want to be virtuous and tick boxes, which is wrong in my opinion I'd probably be on board if they made Scum make Paul Ince their manager, Liverpool, John Barnes, Spuds, Sol Campbell, Arsenal Ian Wright, and to top it all off made Chelski hire Karen Carney
When I grew up being virtuous was something to be admired and respected...now apparently it's something to be criticised for.
On both counts if that is correct about England's team been virtually bame then perhaps people's assumption that this is a rabid racist country will cease? I mean a lot of people seem to think that is the case, and as for tick- a - box sky etc Jeff selling better be looking over his shoulder
Goodnight all. My reasons for coming on here are for a little light relief, the occasional beef and more often than not just to have a laugh. Apologies if I sometimes rub people up the wrong way...it's entirely intended but not in a malicious way I assure you
Love a bit of beef,as long as it's British...local if possible, and as for having a laugh I've been pissing myself personally....cheers
The bolded bit is the thing that is most important here. I don't care what people look like or where they come from but I'd they are the best person for that job then that's what should happen. It really pisses me off when people like Paul Ince complain because he can't get a managers job because of the colour of his skin. He did a great job at MK Dons and Swindon and his success led him to a PL job at Blackburn. He failed spectacularly there and in that world its not easily forgivable. Chris Hughton on the other hand has done well at plenty of clubs and walks in to jobs when he is available. Another example in another field is at channel 4. There was a woman who had some kind of disability which affected her speech. Channel 4 had this person introducing programs. Surely that is not her strong point. Why give her a job where she has to give out information verbally?
The reason there aren't or weren't a lot of black managers/coaches was IMO because a lot of them didn't want to go in that direction and simply didn't want to get their coaching badges. Sky are recruiting pundits because of the colour of their skin and not their skill sets. Some of them can't string a sentence together.
I'd like to be a model and shagging all the fit birds but I'm an ugly ****er. I don't see many supermodels queuing up to give me a chance. I'm sure that's discrimination on some weird level. I also grew up on a council estate and had to fight and scrap everyday. We had no money and struggled for food at times. I passed exams and qualified for the local Grammar School. My class was full of lads who had parents paying thousands of pounds a term to attend. They didn't have to pass exams to get in. They were thick as ****. Doors just seemed to magically open for them though and still do to this day. People on my council estate wanted to fight me purely because I passed an exam to get in to the posh school. Posh lads at school constantly told me I was scum and didn't deserve to be there. And now I have to sit quietly because I have white privilege apparently and I don't understand what people have been through. I'd turn that around and say that people don't know what I have been through so shouldn't label me either. I sit back and find it all quite amusing most of the time but it is quite disrespectful when people judge others blindly regardless of colour, religion or anything else.
Discrimination isn't only a colour thing. Going for a job and you're too old(obviously the interviewer doesn't say that) ageism. I've had the Irish thing thrown at me by the English, English/Protestant thing thrown at me by the Irish. Never bothered me though. The white privilege thing is just another stick certain groups use to beat us with. I'd love to know how white and privileged the people who grew up in the tenements felt.
funny you should say that, the wife works at the local grammar school and she frequently says that half the kids seem thick as pig ****,disrespectful, and the amount of stuff left in the common rooms/locker areas etc and handed in and left in the lost/found area and never reclaimed is unbelievable...a case of mummy/daddy will buy a new one.....and most of the 6th formers spout on about climate change/greenpeace etc....go and ask if your items have been handed in instead of just getting a new iphone dearie
Yeah, my 2 come home from school, plastic this , Whales that, save the planet, which is great, but then leave every ****ing light on in the house.
my two have long gone...well they both live within 15 minutes walk, so not officially off the radar.........err dad can we borrow/have/use etc etc....still they are both nurses so,when the time comes
Afternoon all. So we now have 2 Politics threads. I'm not convinced this is what 2020 planned. Hopefully he'll return as 2021
You can laugh, but you don't know how close I am to making this true. Got a urine or bladder infection atm, so when I 'get the call', I have to go immediately. I roughly have 10 seconds before I piss myself. Been very, very close a couple of times.
