S.A.F.C. - the future

Discussion in 'Sunderland' started by alan reed, Jul 24, 2020.

  1. Wyke is a very poor player.Having said that,he can take a chance in the box if it falls to him. His goals at Wimbledon were very well finished. But,he isn't capable of a contribution in any other way imo. His close control is woeful,he's not in any way mobile,he's very poor in the air and,in trying to gain himself an advantage to cover these shortcomings,he gives away far too many needless fouls.I'm very glad his contract is up in June. Despite his goals,he's just not good enough.

I wonder, could Kyril have had a team of data analysts looking at stats for U21s, for over a month now, and we are just about ready to swoop?

The longer it drags on the less proactive we can be in the window. And we need players asap

Our problem is the number of draws this season. 9 draws along with Shrewsbury is more than any other team in the league. If we’d won 5 of those 9 we’d be top of the league now.

We’ve taken 6 points from the last 15 available and that’s certainly not promotion form but like you I’m optimistic that once Johnson has them drilled in his style of play, key players come back and we can make a few quality additions we’re still in with a shout but time is running out for all those factors to come together.

We will be lucky to finish in the playoffs, and very lucky if we go up by winning them, the team is simply not good enough

The team is good enough for playoffs without any signings, we need some additions to make the top 2. There are no stand out teams in this league

The best team in this division, if top is best, have lost 6 games ...

... the same as the team in 17th who are 3 points off a relegation spot.

You're quite right mate, there are no stand out teams and we only need a 10% improvement to go up.

    No not stand out.

But out of Lincoln, Pompey, Hull, Peterborough, Charlton and Ipswich, you can see at least two of the play off places being taken, and probably the top two coming from that lot too.

They all score more goals than us, and draw less games. I'd say we'll struggle to make the top six without some pace and more goals up front and ideally another goalie, at minimum.
