True, but it isn't just about lack of effort, its the whole package. Put it another way, if they were both in front of me and I had one free hit with a baseball bat, I know who I'd swing for

It also doesn't help when you get arseholes for fans like we have on RTG who when I had a quick look were already writing Winchester off saying he was another **** signing and has not improved the team. That sort of attitude will just fill the young lad with so much confidence

  3. Absolutely. Graham has done the square root of **** all since he arrived, can't wait for him to be turfed out in June. For me,he symbolises everything that's wrong with us at the moment. He's not alone mind.

Could you not just get them to stand back to back and take them both out in 1 go?

I think we need to move away from criticising the fans tbh. A football forum, right after the match, when people will have had a drink, is always going to be a bit reactionary and negative after a poor result regardless of which club it is. It doesn't affect anything in the real world though. It's highly unlikely the player himself will come on and read it, and if he does he'll need a thick skin to be a footballer anyway.

The argument used to be that this negativity would permeate through to the crowd on match day but obviously we don't have a crowd. Which is the main reason I have no time for criticisms of the fans, for years we've had people saying "fans need to look at themselves as well", "can't be easy playing there when people moan when you misplace a pass" etc. Fact is this season, with no fans and thus none of that pressure, we've looked worse than ever at home. I'm sure we've lost more home games already this season than we did in the whole of the last two combined. The issue is the players themselves and those running the club. Thankfully we look to be getting a new owner who has a clue how to run a club and we've got a head coach who seems to have high standards.

No-one could say that Graham has been even a half decent signing, he hasn't, but he's made himself available for selection, ran around on the pitch, slowly granted and also hasn't stood as close as possible to opposition players in case the ball comes his way. Two completely different attitudes but also two abject signings. I'd take the effort every time.

I get that mate and wasn’t being an arse.

I was making the point that players can sit on their contracts no matter what the manager thinks of them or how much he wants them gone. We’ve seen it too many times before and if they do that, the salary cap leaves no room to bring improvements in.
My fear is that fans get vocal about a lack of progress but that may be out of LJs hands if he’s stuck with the squad as it stands. When they’ve gone after the summer and LJ has had a chance to replace them should be the time that his work is scrutinised but fans need to be patient up until we get to that point

Must have missed that but Rodwell missed the best part of a season. Anyway it's all about opinions.

Totally understand a forum is there to voice your opinions and everyone has different ones, just as a grown adult I do find it hard to understand criticising a player who has only just signed , also there were comments saying they would have preferred to have kept PP and these are the same people that had been calling for his head.
I've never agreed that the fans are to blame for anything that has happened at the club, yes we all criticise but the majority with good reason, how many players have we had over the years that the fans have loved just because of their sheer determination.
I've always said it doesn't matter what ability you have while playing for Sunderland if you give 100% every time you play the fans will adore you.
I just find it very childish and petty making criticisms of a player that just arrived and a manager who's hardly had time to implement his ideas, just because we lost a game that we shouldn’t have won and they've had one too many shandy, especially if we'd won 2-1 LJ would be the best manager in the league.
That's why I normally just stay on here where 99% of the time most people I speak to seem to see the bigger picture

  14. I'm hoping the takeover is announced without further delay and we get to hear from KLD himself about his vision for the future. I think that will give the fans a lift.
What would be interesting to know is how he will view the importance of promotion this season. If it is our fate that we spend another year in this division,God forbid,Speakman must get his scouting team together quickly and put them to work, together with Johnson getting to grips with the players and deciding who he wants to keep and who has to go. Given that a large number of dross is out of contract in June, the task of renewing and revitalising the squad is not as difficult as it could have been. There will still be the likes of Grigg,O'Brien,Dobson and Flanagan with a year to run,but hopefully they can be moved on. If promotion isn't achieved,at least we can dream we can start next season with the fans allowed back in and a group of the right calibre, exciting players who we can all get behind. If we can take this division by storm in that scenario,it at least bodes better for the Championship.A fresh start for us all.
We're in our darkest hour.We need that announcement pdq.

I feel it’s too big an ask to get promoted this season with this current squad. Our best hope is we have O’nien, Hume, Willis, Wright, Gooch, Embleton, Diamond fully fit and add maybe 4 more this month ( a proven goal scorer and goal scoring midfielder are a must ).

I trust LJ and I think he’ll turn us around but time is not on his side. We need to buy and buy well to have any chance this season.

I'd agree with everything you say.

However it's 'quotes' from forums that make it into the Echo and other media.

We've seen a recent trend that Sunderland supporters are gaining a reputation for turning on managers and players ...

... we know its 99% nonsense but mud sticks.

The Mags are labelled delusional and arrogant by many people, not just us, and that's been created by a few attention seeking mentalists dressing up as vicars, etc.

This is true, but a very difficult thing to get over.
This twitter world, and general obsession with social media has spawned an immediate angry mob everywhere there is a disappointment.

Players should never read this abbreviated, semi literate rubbish, ( including this!) though I can see that might be easier said than done, especially for a youngun.

Last night was so bad on so many levels that grumbles are inevitable, and justified. But people new to the club, and I hope we see more soon, need some time to put right the years of grotesque amateur culture and neglect.

Really don't get the love for Embleton on here or RTG. He's constantly added into the group that people would like to see stay. Is this just because he's from here? Personally I think he's ****ing ****e and has no future above League 2 level. I get that we should focus on our academy, but I'd rather we had a decent player from outside the academy than opt to play a ****e one just because he's come up through our youths. I'm hoping he's not offered a new contract and leaves in the summer.

Haven’t seen anywhere near enough of him to give an opinion. But from everything I’ve read, which again isn’t much he seems a bit hit and miss.

After the shocking performance last night I am finding it hard to find any optimism.

Craving that feel good factor of Quinny saying get aboard the magic carpet ride and having a decent forward to pin your hopes on.

If they are looking for the perfect timing for an announcement, for me it's now. This has to be our lowest point and when is better to give people a bit of hope.
