not read through so apologies if i repeat stuff as i figure others will post similar...

once again a sunderland team has a good chance to get back to back wins against a team with the worst away record and worst away scoring record yet we once again ship the early goal, at least this time it was not the 1st attack.

don;t know how many times i have said it this season but when we play the ball on the ground, especially around an opponents area they struggle to cope in this league, no surprise our goal came from just that...yet our main form of attack was long balls into space giving our forwards little to no chance.

next, pass and feckin move ffs, why is it so hard?...plymouth did it well yet our lot pass and stand still, they decide to move after a pass is aimed at them - loss of possession and when the opposition give it away and we get that turn around in play we rarely, if ever punish them, yet they do it to us regularly, bad choices in the final 3rd/their area...scowen and his 'sky shots', please don't do it until you learn to keep a ball down...i really hoped last week would be a turning point for wyke but tonight he was back to his usual best, lots of fouls and falling over.

this, imho, was the type of game where you keep the ball on the ground and look to turn the defence, mcgeady did this a few times first half but was too far away from their goal to make it really count, last game we played the ball in low and got 3 goals, tonight we reverted to hoof ball and struggled to score...it does not take a lot of figuring out.

our defence, which was getting praised every week early in the season is now getting found out more often, while they can be manly solid there are times it is just too easy for the opposition, plymouths 2nd was just a stroll in for them and far too easy...let's get the defence used to a system before we start messing with it, at times we were left with the 2 lads defending with mcfaz/power way up the pitch, teams know they can hit us quick.

Is that a dig at Embleton?? If so then you obviously don’t take into account the Central attacking midfielder playing at Left back

We had another midfielder who can attack apart from Geads, Diamond and 09?

Bloody hell, when did we sign them and why wasn't it covered in the takeover thread?!

I think Willis is the best CB at the club. Way better than Sanderson as well (who, fir me, looked awful at RB tonight but good at CB - interestingly as I always thought he looked a better RB previously)

O’Nien in midfield please. Power at rb as O’Nien drive and energy will suit a pressing game. Hume is massively missed. A lot, at first, though mcfadz was as good. Nowhere near IMO. Gooch as well. I think scowen is an ok player who’s out of form. (Can’t shoot for ****)

Our best player on the pitch tonight.

Was the only one offering something baring AOB who was half decent.

Can i give an opinion from the other side. This is only that and is formed from me watching the match on iFollow without any commentary tonight.

I watch Argyle week in week out on IFollow and have seen all of their frailties this season so far. One of them has been an inability to string two halves of football together in one match. Mostly good first half and then any excuse to feck it up in the second by not turning up. Our defence has been weak and have had an inability to see off a corner or cross into the box unless the opposition have cocked it up for us. We have had a tendency to pass the ball to death at the back and an almost suicidal intent to not lump it out. We get sussed in the second half and the press starts and we can't change. Ok that's the background.

Tonight I saw an Argyle team with 100% resolve in comparison to other matches even at home. We defended doggedly for a good deal of the game and defied you to get through us. I do not think we did it unfairly and certainly were not a dirty side. We passed the ball well and that was even across the back. Sunderland did not close us down enough and gave enough space and time for most of it for us to get the ball up the field. When we defended we did it relatively well and your players resorted to lumping the ball to the front players more in hope than anything else. The longer the game went on that you were chasing it the more the ball got pumped. We wasted a bit of time but please don't tell me that isn't part of a game and that every team does it when trying to hold an advantage and the game is ticking by. Lewis I read (No.22) went to ground to waste time. Well that was his first start in any game this season on a very heavy pitch against decent opposition. No surprise he got cramped up after an hour. Your pitch wasn't a leveller either. We have a pitch at home that would grace any Prem club and are not used to playing on a ploughed field. I think the result was fair enough. We scored when we needed to and we didn't let you which was a fair enough tactic to adopt given our record away this season.

On paper you are a decent side. On performance mostly you are a good side and have very good players at this level. I think it is more a case of your players under performing rather than opposition teams ripping them apart. One thing I did notice and that is they whinge at the Ref far too much. If they spend as much time getting on with it and putting the opposition under pressure as they do trying to get others carded then they might just do a lot better. You should be in a better place than you are and apart from the above observations I don't know why you haven't done a lot better at home. I have only seen todays game. This post isn't intended to wind anyone up it is just an honest view from a different angle

    cheers for that mate, appreciated.

pretty much us as well 'chalk and cheese', we got away with it last game as wyke finally looked like a striker but overall play was dire, the annoying thing is the players we have should be easy good enough to be winning more games, they keep letting themselves (and us) down.

Johnson knows all too well what a huge he has, He has been here such a short time and was never going to turn this rank average squad into a top 2 chasing team. The club is in a massive transition period and a movement forward that has genuine momuntum might take a little time...so i'm prepared to wait and see. Play offs are not out of reach, so lets see what happens.... KTF
PS...still gutted about this result tho

by the way Plymouth were exellent and deserved their win. players like Sanderson wondering what to do with the frigging ball, every player seems baffled on how to get forward a Plymouth player runs towards them they back off like a coward, wyke etc were awful, i am not renewing next season if this **** keeps up and where the hell are the owners ? what are they going to do to change this ? i would take 6th now if given, this is the most hurtful time in out history who do we blame for this Murray, Short, etc.

As balanced a post as that is, the”whinge at the ref too much” is utter bollocks! We played hull last week. They could and should’ve had at least 2 men sent off. We didn’t get a free kick for either of the fouls! Every club, when things don’t go their way, the players complain. Every club we’ve played this season has had that niggle with the ref. Normally it gets our players booked. This league is utter dross and I actually haven’t watched anyone against us I thought “yeah they’re streets ahead of us” and that includes most above us in the league.

I thought you handled our “attacks” very well. You had 3 of your own and scored from 2 of them. Your game plan worked to perfection. Frustrate, waste time and take your chances. It’s something we’ve had done on numerous occasions this season but, fir some reason, our players can’t seem to counteract it if we don’t score first.

It’s utterly typical that an opposition club suddenly puts together their most complete performance against us. Said it over and again, opponents raise their game against us and your post proves that perfectly (despite some of our fans arguing that point)

Well played yesterday. Good luck for the season

Ahh month’s multi seasonal “I’m not renewing next season” post! Yet EVERY season he renews! Give that a rest man. Remainder of your post I agree with majority of. But Bob Murray was 20 years ago man! How can any of this be his fault? Ffs

Sorry like but the whinge at the ref stuff is a load of bollocks. That's one thing we don't do which annoys the hell out of me with these god awful officials week in week out. We're too weak in that respect.

Well it is the morning after the night before.. God we are so fcuked!

I have not looked backed but were Macfadzean/Mcgeady etc at fault

The only positives were after the first 15 minutes we did play better, scored a good goal and made several other chances did not take any though and we had a lot of corners that came to nothing.

Not too far off apart from us being a " decent" side. We are not at all.

We have a few players who look okay when we are winning but last night showed them for what they are and it is not the first time at all.

Scowen, who without being great tried to force things a bit and Diamond who at least always looked to be positive apart, they were all happy to play the same pointless move over and over again to static front men. I could defend against it now and I'm over bloody sixty.

There is a lot of, "not my fault gov, I did my bit" about this team. No courage or taking responsibility. This team epitomises the state of the club currently, as did the rancid , abused and neglected pitch.

There is so much work to do on and off the pitch here, I only hope that KLD knows what he is in for, because he might not enjoy a lot of the **** shovelling that needs doing. The club is entirely hollowed out, and the road back looks very long .

Get taken over (hopefully). Get a couple of players in, get rid of a couple of the ****e this window. Write off this season (this season is a bit of a write offy mess all round. What, with Covid, this season is a bit of a mess anyway, it just isnt right). Get a few more players in this summer, get rid of a few more ****. With the new owner settled in we can have a push next season, hopefully with some sort of normality back to football and life in general.
