Didn't realise he was that old - certainly not playing like it! I still don't think they replace an ageing Vardy that probably still has another year at this level with a 29 year old Danny Ings for £50m(??) That only probably has another 3. Bloody hoping not anyway!
Where you getting £50m from? With one year to go and if he wants to leave we'll be lucky to get £30m.
Complete guess work hence the (??) - If I recall correctly Ralph said Ings would see out his contract here regardless of a new deal, so it seems it would take something huge for us to sell.
I wouldn't be shocked if none of them did this summer (not that we know of course who those four, or five, CL clubs will be). But a free transfer the following summer? They'd be forming a queue.
If he’d only stop being injured or ill and score a few more goals, he could have Champions League football with us!
I don’t begrudge him biding his time and hoping that he gets one last crack at the UCL and a title push. He’s earned it. Hopefully it doesn’t come and he stays or we manage to extract maximum value and pick up a couple of good new players.
The thing is for Ings, the big CL clubs in England will go after Haaland. He'll cost more money than Ings obviously, but he's 20 years old and he's already one of the best strikers in the world. Ings is one of several back up options for them in the transfer market and the same applies on the pitch. Danny has got to ask himself whether he's willing to sit on the bench more often for the sake of playing for a bigger club.
An ITK on Ranks FC podcast says that spurs have enquired. He’s normally very knowledgable. (Would definitely recommend that podcast if anyone is looking for a good football listen. Really good laugh)
I wouldn't take "champions league" too literally - it will be any of the top clubs that regularly get European football - I doubt they have to qualify for it this season if he is signing a 3/4 year deal. It is Danny's way of saying he isn't pushing for a move, but if an offer from a big club comes in the summer then he is more likely to get his way with just the year left. I suppose all we can do is hope none of the top clubs want to buy a 29 year old with a history of injuries - ah well, at least we are used to it by now!
