Two Covid cases per minute being admitted to hospital. 120 per hour. 2880 per day. If the NHS and other frontline workers don’t get proper pay rises, when the dust settles, then EVERYONE should be writing to their MPs, as a minimum.
CNN reporting that the “U.K. variant” was circulating in the USA before it was first detected in the U.K.
This is how you do a mandatory home quarantine. It’s brilliant in its creepy, elegant efficiency. I have to register my address before I leave the airport (like in the U.K.) but it’s all linked to an app which uses location data when active. It doesn’t use it all the time but the service pings me at 3-5 random times a day and I need to check in with a selfie (location data is encoded in the photo) or a voice call (which also can be location traced). It’s obviously not perfect but compared to going to England where I was just asked to say “I promise” (and Dubai where they put responsibility on the hotel) it’s much more aggressive. Also had to test to fly here, test on arrival and I’ll get tested halfway through quarantine and on exit. That part I think is total overkill.

Just had a text to say no positive results from testing everyone off my flight last night. Says to stay home though because it doesn’t mean that there weren’t any who had it. I’d hope that would mean we might get out in a week after testing clean again but I’m probably still in for 13 more days.
Jesus wept! Serious concern though. Is it still too soon for these death to all be related to Christmas Day, or do we still have more peaks to come. 26 days since Christmas, so allowing for people to have caught it then, but not diagnosed for another week or so, could still mean that a lot of these current deaths contracted the virus before Christmas Day. Scary.
