'As I said do you have theories about why pros never signed Massengo?, ODowda?, Paterson? or Diedhiou? or even Williams? (despite huge interest in him from bigger clubs including newly promoted clubs).

I've answered. Please see above. Basically others thought they weren't good enough.

As for the 'injured' Williams I can't comment but you may well have answered your own question.
You believe bigger clubs wanted him. I don't believe a word that comes from Ashton or anyone else in his employ, it's your perogative to believe otherwise.

Back to Palmer - Pigs may fly, but I sincerely hope he gets assists and scores a 30yrd screamer at Norwich.

Point 1 I believe it because that information never came from Ashton and it seems to have passed you by that I have criticised Ashton as much as the next guy, even if the next guy is you.

Point 2 So do I because I am a fan of BCFC and I want everybody concerned with the club to do well, I even wanted Pulis to do well, which some obviously didn't which is sad. Your anger seems to be directed at individuals, my anger is more directed at the running of the club, because to me it is wholly dysfunctional from the media department, to rehab department, to the transfer policy in and out and appointments within the club.

All I ask of any BCFC player is that they all give 100% every time they put on the shirt and in recent seasons that has not always been the case for whatever reasons. I worked with an ex pro (whose father was a BCFC legend, before anyone on here started to support the club, I would imagine) at several clubs and his mantra was 'as long as our players give 100%, I will never ask for more, I will criticise mistakes to try to stop it happening again, but if we lose having given 100% then it's because the other side had better players and that's not our players fault".

    Williams.
Where did your info come from?

I'm not angry at Palmer, just offering my opinion of his performance.

Although worth considering RP, you can’t use this question as proof that players are poor.
Webster is good - why didn’t other Premiership sides come in for him when we nabbed him from Ipswich? He must have been ****e in their collective eyes then?
Same with Vardy - nobody was interested in him until Leicester came knocking.
Our own Andy Cole was an Arsenal reject and he became the most expensive player in the world a few years later.
So we judge players (and managers) by which Premiership clubs have made moves for them?
I’m not saying it’s irrelevant, but it’s not reliable either.

I can't find a link although there are odd links for West Brom, Middlesborough and Bournemouth, Forest and if memory serves Burnley and maybe others.

When I saw the attention he was receiving, I never thought we had a chance of signing him and was surprised when we did.

The fee was initially due to be 2.5 mil and we got him for over half of that, it just seems everybody dropped out, there must have been a good reason.

    Here's a first, or second.

I don't blame Johnson for Palmer.
He had him here on loan, looked at him, and didn't pick him which to me says everything. He never rated him just as the 4 other clubs who had him on loan. Tbf in my mind I blame Ashton.

About Williams, I have to say the only 'stuff' I heard was from Ashton and Ashton pulling Holden's strings.

The player spent a lot of time out injured. He was an obvious talent in a team that did not utilise his obvious skills on the ball.

Mr Johnson football stifled like McCarthy's Webster's skill but he showed enough for another team to come in for him. Webster made more passes per game for Bristol City than he did at Ipswich, he makes far more passes per game at Brighton a team that suits him further than he did for Bristol City.

Palmer was never for sale whilst on any of his loans, he was only for sale after Lampard had taken a look at him pre season after leaving Derby and we were in the box seat for the reasons I have already pointed out.

He had a very successful loan at Hudersfield only interupted by injury and they were promoted to the premiership and he came back from injury to play in the play off final. He went back to Chelsea and signed a 4 year contract extension to 2021 they obviously saw him as a talent and was immediately loaned back to Huddersfield now in the premiership, ok he only played 5 times and his loan was terminated. Next season he went to Derby at the end of January and played 16 times for them and was expected back but Lampard managed to get Mason Mount instead. He then went to Blackburn on a season long loan but after making 14 appearances up until January he was recalled by Chelsea and sent out to us for the rest of that season and played 15 times, I don't see anything in any of those facts that suggest that he was not wanted by any of those clubs. His real problems seem to have started the minute we bought him.

As for Williams there are the odd local newspaper stories from West Brom, Middlesborough and Bournemouth linking them to him throughout July and speculation over other clubs as well until he signed for us in August, I never read anything from Ashton whatsoever about him, but everybody seemed to drop out of the race to sign him and the price started to fall.

After all this you believe he was decent before he joined City. Whether you're right or wrong he's not my cup of tea wearing a red shirt.
We'll have to agree to disagree.

Of course he was, he is yet another in the long line of mismanaged/poorly coached category.

Has he been poor? yes apart from his original loan to us and the first 5/6 games of last season yes he has.

We are in a beggars can't be choosers position at this precise moment of the season and all of our own doing, Semenyo is a talent but is not scoring and has stopped creating and lacks composure, we have nobody else who can possibly create, we are barely averaging a goal a game and have not managed more than 3 goals in a game all season, until the mythical W's start playing, that is where we are.

I wouldn't play him against Norwich personally, I would bring Semenyo back if available and see how the game pans out, but I would play him and Semenyo in the same team on Saturday at Millwall.

Not sure I can agree with this, he only started a slack handful of games at Swansea as well, so was he mismanaged/poorly coached there as well? I think Palmer flatters to deceive, he looks good for a few games, but can't sustain it and is found out quickly. This seems a trend throughout his career to date, a good start, but cannot capitalise on it, which your own post shows.

I can't argue with much of this, however Chelsea gave him a 4 year contract 2017.

The thing is good or bad he is our player and sat on 3 more years of a big contract and at the moment needs must.
