... by the teams above us in January Peterborough - Charlton Ipswich - Peterborough Portsmouth - Hull Portsmouth - Lincoln Charlton - Portsmouth Lincoln - Doncaster In January we have 3 home games from 4 ... ... just saying. Sunderland v Plymouth Argyle Sunderland v Shrewsbury Tow Ipswich Town v Sunderland Sunderland v Gillingham Strong drink has been taken, please disregard think post.
Our home form is improving imo. We won the last one and drew with a Hull side who were well above us. We should be going into the next game full of confidence against a team who, from memory, are poor away from home and have been battered a few times. It does puzzle me why Plymouth are having to trudge up to the NE on a Tuesday night ... ... but that's their problem, hope they arrive knackered
Don't suppose it matters with no fans allowed. The team don't have to be back at work on Wednesday so can't imagine it effects them too much. Hopefully they continue to be ****e away from home irregardless
Would love us to batter Shrewsbury, not only because of Cotterill but because I went down there last season and their fans were pathetic, we lost 1-0 and it pissed it down all day. Only consolation was that England beat the All Blacks on the same day.
We need 10 points from that. Trouble is, how many times since we've been down here have we had a little run of 3 or 4 games against lower table opposition where we've said, got to be 10 or 12 points from that and we always blow it. The four game run just before Covid struck last march comes to mind.
No crowds at home negate the long trip for a lot of teams. If we had 30k in the SoL it makes it a long day for visiting teams. Nowadays, not so much...
It's not a big deal but it's a 7 hour bus trip which means travelling on the day or 2 nights in a hotel. Hopefully they'll come up on Tuesday and stiffen up ... ... I always do on coach journeys like that
True, but is this not their first game back after a COVID shutdown? Also there is the news that their manager, who has caused the bounce has just come out of ITU, so won’t be there tomorrow. So I don’t think the recent form is current , if you see what I mean. By the way I think it’s awful that Steve has been in ITU, just in case anybody thinks I am using that as a positive for us.
Three of those wins in their last five were against Lincoln, Doncaster and Hull so playing very well. As you say though it was a while ago and those wins were before Christmas, tomorrow night's game against Southampton will be the first match they've played in 3 weeks.
