JOEY RODON'S MAGIC! HE WEARS A MAGIC HAT! AND IF YOU THROW A BRICK AT HIM HE'LL HEAD THE ****ER BACK! HE HEADS IT TO THE LEFT, HE HEADS IT TO THE RIGHT! AND WHEN WE WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE* WE'LL SING THIS SONG ALL NIGHT! *Europa League or any trophy in fact is also fine
I don't know what that selection is about...Lamela and Fernandes back in favour...Doherty, Winks and Sissoko out....3 at the back...Who the **** knows? I'm off behind the sofa.
Really do hope Rodon has a good game, if we can start booting out at least one of three deadbeat CBs it's a start. Team Joe Rodon, baby! And yes, I fully realise I've RCL'd it and he's either conceding a penalty or an own goal now.
I don't have a problem with either of those players. I'd put either of them into the squad ahead of Fernandes, for a start. Dier over Alderweireld? No. Three centre-halves? No. Playing wingbacks with no backup on the bench? No. I'm not impressed. We seem to be trying to match up against their tactics, while sacrificing the midfield. It might work, but I certainly don't like the look of it, nor the implications of some of the selections.
The problem is that I'm not, as you regularly see one of two players drifting over to the right to cover the gaps he's leaving, which is most often one of Sissoko or Toby - and that is what is leaving gaps, with Toby (or Sanchez, if he's playing) moving out to the right leaving him in no man's land, while Sissoko drifting out wide is leaving a gap in the centre It was most obvious when we played Man Utd last season as we may as well have rolled out a red carpet in midfield due to Sissoko constantly covering the right flank leaving Winks hopelessly exposed, and it's getting the same way this season as ever since the West Scam game we've had a paranoid fixation on covering our right flank, and the fact we have this paranoid fixation our opponents have been targeting that flank and benefitting greatly from it Compare it to when Kyle Walker was at the club. Nobody's going to say he's the most intelligent footballer (while Greater Manchester Police have various reasons to question his intelligence off the pitch...) but he never left gaping holes down our right flank, because if he was up the pitch the space behind him was covered by either Lennon or Lamela, and if he did make a mistake he had the pace to make up for it - and the only times he ever really got left exposed is when Andros Townsend was in front of him Now look at what we have with Aurier: he rarely has a player in front of him covering the space, as Lamela's on the pitch for one game in six while Bale, Bergwijn and Lucas rarely cover him (Lucas can be a terrier on occasion, such as this season's NLD, but there's plenty of games where he doesn't) meaning that Sissoko or a CB have to drift wide to cover the gap, and he doesn't have the pace to make up for his mistakes because he's conceded a foul in a dangerous area and you can't exactly recover ten yards chasing back a free kick or penalty that you just conceded Also, on the subject of our CBs, they're being fatally undermined by our own tactics, because by design we're inviting pressure to be put on either a CB who is outmuscled far too often (Dier), has a mistake in them (Sanchez), or is on the decline (Toby) for a sustained period, and to be honest we could have prime Cannavarro and Baresi playing at CB and they'd barely improve our fortunes because they keep being undermined by the combination of willingly surrendering midfield for 45+ minutes not only on far too many occasions this season but it has to be said there were glimpses of it in our post-restart match against Penchester last season coupled with Aurier creating gaps that other players have to fill
I've just worked out another issue that I've got with the side. Doherty's been struggling and he was effective for Wolves as a wingback for several years. Now we play wingbacks and leave him out of the squad entirely.
So no Sissoko and Winks. But we play our most defensive winger, who we use against the top sides, and 2 left backs. We're just being trolled at this point.
Also looks like you need 8 letters in your surname to get into the midfield, Delealli obviously not correct
