People have been trying since I was a foetus, and yet here I am. Every day my mother regrets that she didn't have longer arms or a longer coathanger...

I'm going to pop to my dads tomorrow for my spare charger and if not I'll pop into a PC repair shop.

Rather than using the machine's battery, have you experienced the same cut-out when plugged into the mains for any extended period of time ? If you don't experience the same problem using the mains, it's most likely your battery is too weak to drive everything - particularly the cooling fan(s).

I had an old HP laptop that did the same. Its overheating due to the fan being full of dust. Peckhams on Holderness Rd are good. It's in the arches under the railway bridge back of Matalan.

Never had a laptop, so I don't know if you can unscrew any parts of the machine's casing, but the fan area on the board should have an air intake opening/grill. Try using a vacuum cleaner (preferably with a soft brush attachment) to suck the dust out & test your machine again before paying someone to fix the problem. Naturally, switch off & and unplug the machine when doing it.
I've had fan issues before on desktops and they are relatively cheap to replace, if the vacuuming doesn't solve the problem, but no idea about laptops.

most laptops are a pain to take apart to those who regularly mess with stuff.
to the uninitiated it could be terminal.
but a blast of air into the grill could work

I've had someone look at it and they've said the motherboard has gone and only HP can repair it.

So I've bought myself a Medion Crawler E10.

I bought a new printer and it arrived yesterday. It weighs in at 33kg. It’s like something from Land of the Giants. 5DF26ACF-0271-4F59-A9D3-AACBB9DC6654.jpeg

Some folk are pretty good. Bought an airfryer off Amazon. After 11 months there was a crack in the glass in the front door. Rang the firm which supplied it in Scotland. Very helpful lad said they had some problems with the doors on that model and he would send another. 3 days later and it duly arrived. Same thing happened a few months later. He said that they had now rectified the problem on later models but as returning it and doing the paperwork was a bind would I accept a refund and keep it so I could use the refund for the new model. Quite happily did so. Gave the old one to my lad whom doesn't use it as much as me and a year later he is using it without the front glass deteriorating any further, which is quite possible. Great service. Which pays off as I recommended them to a couple of other people who then bought items off the same company.
