Anyone tried the new Louis Theroux podcast, it's worth a listen but then I'm a fan of his anyway. I'd also second the shout out for Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster. David Tennant did one for a bit which was perfectly amiable. My go to is the Empire Magazine podcast though as I love me movies.
Have just finished listening to an excellent series on BBC Sounds - Ecstasy - The Battle Of Rave. Six episodes recounting the rise of the rave scene in the late 80s and its association with ecstasy. It's an investigative journey, with interviews with some of the top players, including Shaun Ryder and DJ Graham Park, as well as some of the rave organisers and drug dealers. Each episode is twinned with a short drama with stories recounted by celebrities including Ade Edmondson and David Morrissey, stories including "The Undercover Cop" and "The Entrepeneur". If you lived through that era, partied away at either a legal or illegal rave, popped pills or drank lager, or are just interested in a period of our social history this is a great listen.
I’m burning through “Undr The Cosh” hosted by fat Jon Parkin, Chris Brown who used to play for Sunderland and some other northern bloke. Really good interviews including some QPR-related with Bircham and Clarke Carlisle. It’s mainly ex-footballers talking about getting pissed midweek or leaving a **** in someone’s washbag.
You've let yourself down - the McWhirter reference would've been so much more up your street..... https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Norris McWhirter
I would like to stress that I was unaware of this definition when I thought Watford might be referring to the former Guiness Book of Records compiler.
Good interview with uncle Albert https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-official-efl-podcast/id1453527897?i=1000498049582
Just finished season one of Transmissions:The Definitive Story of Joy Division and New Order. Maybe not for @Uber_Hoop but think @sb_73 might like it! Season one covers the period from the formation of Joy Division up to the release of Blue Monday in 1983. Narrated by Maxine Peak, it has interviews with all four original members of New Order plus clips of Tony Wilson, Bono, Noel Gallagher, Shaun Ryder and Neil Tennant amongst others, and plenty of music. Really good listen if you're a fan of either/both bands - eight 30 minute episodes if you're looking for something to keep you occupief over the Christmas break! Enjoy https://art19.com/shows/transmissions
Thanks. Loved it... so many memories... got into JD after New Order strangely; all in the timing. First saw New Order live at Brixton Academy - Power, Corruption and Lies - hooked after that. Still played regularly (as is Unknown Pleasures).
Just listened to QPR Podcast with Shaun Derry. If you liked the Charlie interview after Luton, you may enjoy this. Never get bored listening to 2010 reminisces.
They've stepped it up another gear this week, Charlie on the podcast for at least 30 mins, really feel-good vibe from him
