Those in charge of the game need to recognise the problem first. That looks unlikely to happen, as they're happy with the situation.

One obvious suggestion is to have a separate body on VAR duty, rather than somebody who doesn't want to make their peers and/or superiors look bad

It's amazing how quickly standards improve when scratching one another's backs isn't the primary concern

I am surprised this isn't the case. When it was first mooted I assumed the VAR would be run either by specialists who didn't also ref on the field, or by retired refs who could bring their experience into use, with no requirement to still be able to ref on the field as well. The fact that it's the same bunch of refs rotating on and off the field is the worst possible option. They either bring their current bias with them, their current incompetence with them and certainly a desire not to point out the mistake of other refs incase their own deficiencies are shown up. I genuinely thought that VAR was the opportunity to get away with bias etc by using different officials. The current arrangements are a sad and unnecessary "solution".

Chelsea's longest serving player has left the club today. Any guesses on who it is? Nope, it's Lucas Piazon.
Spent 9 years contracted to the club and made 3 appearances, 1 in the league and 2 in the league cup, all in the same season.
He's played 192 times for other teams in that time and has joined Braga. Still only 26.

He actually has more games for them than the last bloke in his position, funnily enough.
Matej Delac signed for them in 2009, left in 2018 and didn't play a single minute of competitive football for them.

Bias towards United has been obvious for as long as I can remember, and I don`t know why Klopp is piping up, the bias towards Pool is just as bad and has been for just as long.

Tv pundits insisting Liverpool v Man U the biggest rival game in the PL. Frankly,I thought it was Fulham v Chelsea but if they mean biggest spenders, that may be true!!

Saying West Brom will never win 3-2 just before their 3-2 win over Wolves Smithy.

I wondered where RCL learnt it.

Hopefully it won't be long before Glenn points out Spurs will never beat l'arse 20-0

Looks like the Leeds pitch of the 1970's has returned to the Premiership with them. I thought that they played at Elland Road, not Plough Lane.

****er pulls of a bunch of great saves against us, then flaps like a twat against Chelsea. <doh> Typical.

Plough Lane looks quite nice now, to be fair.

I heard that Robinson was sent off for a dangerous two-footed lunge and thought that, for once, referees were judging Saltypool's challenges fairly...

Surely Southampton should have had a penalty....the player given offside was fouled before challenging for the ball.

This is explicitly covered in the Laws

a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence
    •  an offence is committed against a player in an offside position who is already playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the offside offence is penalised as it has occurred before the foul challenge

They seem to go barmy against us and crazy against others.

Starting to think Nuno’s reached that part that Poch did with us in that he can’t take the team much further. Feels like they’re in a bit of a decline now, Jimenez’s injury obviously hasn’t helped but Moutinho isn’t getting any younger and although Doherty’s been poor for us, he was huge for Wolves. Losing Jota to Pool as well massively hurt them. He was basically their version of what Son is for us.

I wouldn’t be completely surprised if Nuno walks at the end of the season. He could very likely get a job at a bigger and/ or better club.

Would happily watch his style of football at the lane...we might not win things but at least I'd be entertained
