A month ago the sim to be top 4 by the end of the SEASON. Would have some folk skaking their heads and calling you a rosie. So l admire your optimism. Whilst l believe promotion is once again on our agenda - if we continue to take onboard LJ’s style we will see an improvement game on game. With an odd knock back guarenteed. A good late surge is what my gut tells me. KTF
It’s funny how different people think for some reason my gut is going the other way god knows why pray that I’m wrong, don’t get me wrong I think our future will be brilliant just this season I have doubts.
Today it appears l am in a conservative state of mind. I’m normally a glass overflowing nevermind 1/2 full. But l’ve bought into LJs football philosophy and think that it will take time to become ingrained. There will be a hiccup or two but time coupled with a couple of new arrivals that already are in the mode should see us through. On a personal level l am in Norway and my ‘dads team’ have lit up the league here playing just this style. High press, Fast turnover to get ball back. Real speed when attacking. They have been a breath of fresh air over here and fingers crossed that they take this into their european adventure. So l am praying for a similar change of fortune for our SAFC. KTF
If KLD is backing the payroll, then due to the financial restraints, we need to get rid of all but the few who can survive in the championship. this does not come as a shock to most but there will be a few who voice concern over their favorite ones. doing a Brucie and buying 12 new players and expecting them to gel and play well from the off, is a fools paradise. Therefore its now this window to recruit for promotion if we don't want to come straight back down, a goalkeeper of proven quality 2 goalscorers 2 attacking midfielders and one piece of perfection young, but with the ability to grow into the quality of Steed Malbranque or Sessegnon the chase is on in a dream world D Cisse Kaboul Perez Cana Kone khazri Mvila players in that mould to excite along with home grown talent would be a dream
We really seem to be struggling to get any momentum at all. We already had injury problems, then covid, now more injuries. When LJ took over and especially after Lincoln I was convinced that absolutely anything was still possible. I'm now starting to think this season is just a broken disjointed mess. Still 'hoping' we can get a run going though for playoffs or better but I'm certainly not convinced anymore.
With the way this season has gone then I wouldn't bet against it. The Covid-19 postponements here there and everywhere mean I just don't see this season settling down until at least after Easter.
