Good Morning. It's Thursday 14th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Contract snub alerts Leeds to 'lightening quick' left back Leeds may be a giant step closer to signing Liverpool's highly rated left back Yasser Larouci. The 20yo was strongly linked with a move to Elland Road in the summer but his price tag was a stumbling block. Larouci has rejected all approaches to sign a new contract at Anfield, and could walk away at the end of the season when his contract expires. Obviously this should mean that Liverpool will be anxious to get some sort of fee. He was born in Algeria, but raised in France. Liverpool poached him from La Havre when he was just 16. He is described as an aggressive, lightening quick natural wing back. Lacouci has only just turned 20 (on New Years Day). Whilst his talent is undeniable, he may have to wait for an opportunity to present itself to get into the starting line up! Leeds will be hoping that a fee of around £500,000 will secure his services. please log in to view this image Fears rife that Meslier and Roberts have contracted Covid19 Since the Crawley game, speculation on social has been growing about the health of Illan Meslier and Tyler Roberts. The Welsh International in particular was expected to start the game on Sunday to show case what Bielsa had been missing out on for the last six weeks. It was not much of a surprise that Casilla started between the sticks, though, is was expected that the French man would take a place on the bench. Both were omitted from the squad. YEP journalist Boren Cross has disclosed that when Bielsa was quizzed on Tyler Roberts inclusion, the Argentine would not go beyond saying Roberts is 'unavailable. It has now come to light that before Crawleys press conference, he (Bielsa) had asked the media not to press him on COVID-related absences in his squad! please log in to view this image
The Liverpool kid was fancied by Bielsa but as with everything scouse, they wanted too much money. They wanted too much money for Harry Wilson so that fell through. They are greedy twats and only the blunts fell for it buy giving them over £20m for Brewster. The Larouci kid can walk away for free in the Summer so hopefully will see sense. if players have picked up covid then serious questions need answering as they jeopardise the clubs status in the Prem. I don't see Meslier mixing with Roberts socially for some reason, but ......
Morning all, Can we get the Chief straight on a plane from South Africa to play in goal? Anyone but Kiko the clown.
By beating BHA this weekend we move 12 points clear of them and have a game in hand. 12 points is 4 wins, which is massive and I believe that could seal their Premier League fate. If we beat them I predict they go down alongside WBA and Sheff Utd. Fulham after a bad start seem to be shaping up. So Saturday is a massive, season defining match in my opinion
7 points from the next 7 games (very achievable) would match our average of 10 points every 8 games. So 30 points from 24 games would leave us needing another 10 points from safety from 14 games. Safety will probably be less than 40 points this season anyway, but the sooner we get there the better. Then planning for next season can begin. Would be considered a very successful campaign imo.
It's funny but I don't get nervous watching games against Spurs, Chelsea etc. However when we're playing the lower half teams I'm bricking it. I won't be able to relax until we get to the 40 point barrier (assuming we DO get there). I'm fairly confident we will get there but we don't need any bad patches.
Two wins from the next two very winnable games puts us in a good position. Unless something very extreme happens to our form there are definitely looking like probably 5 teams who are a lot worse than us this season and will be battling for the relegation spots. As long as we keep picking up points against them then we will be fine
I'm never that keen to sign a player who has run his contract down. For me, it almost certainly suggests that he's more interested in money than playing, & has a questionable attitude. I know there are exceptions to the rule, but not many. We don't really save either - the player will expect the missing transfer fee to appear in his pay packet, right up until he runs down our contract with him. Cynicism or jaundiced realism?
Why not set up a vote, Ell? Would be interesting to see who didn't vote for Kelly. He's the only player whose name went on the back of my shirt. Well, almost - I had 'Belly', but everyone knew what I meant. Was tempted to do the same with Batty with an 'F'.
Usually agree with you but this kid was upset at the high fee the scousers put on his head. He knows he will never get a game for them and wants to leave so he can play. Precisely the reason he wants to leave is to play and dont think hes bothered where as long as he plays.?
We'll see if we do pursue him, & I hope that you're right. Can he play anywhere else, or just wing-back? Key consideration for a Bielsa signing.
