LJ has obviously seen enough and decided to offload. I imagine there's a few players wondering about who their next club will be.. We are rank average, even tho probably as good a squad as there is in this league, but if he has one eye on the Championship, then things must improve. Look at those who get promoted ...they struggle, we would be destroyed in the Championship with some of the players we have on our books.

I have some sympathy for Dobson. He’s made a big step up to a club our size and he showed decent signs at the beginning. He’s certainly no worse a CM than Power. He’s had a poor (understatement) season this season but I saw enough last season to know there’s a player in there. He’s also knocking on the gaffers door saying he wants to play. Could easily have done a Rodwell and simply turned up when he had to.

will wish him good luck wherever he ends up.

Just had a look at some stats, last season he was our second best rated CM just behind Leadbitter with Power a poor third some way behind. Easily the most tackles per game in the whole squad and the most blocks of any non defender.

Don't get me wrong he's been poor this season but I don't buy any of these worst Sunderland player ever comments. He's better than Power for a start. He's limited but what he is good at he does quite well. When he's gone we'll lose someone willing to get stuck in and throw himself in front of the ball.

It's not much maybe but it's something.

I think he is a decent player, will be very good for a team at a lower level than us

That’s what they said about me when I turned out for Barry’s Newsagents in Belmont in the annual paper boys five a side tournament in Newcastle in 1981. Although I reckon my best years were behind me by then like.

Mid table league 1 is a low level, we got him from a league 2 side hoping he could step up, he tried but just hadn’t got the ability.

again i appreciate you getting behind the lad as a true supporter should always do, but sometimes you have to step back and look at the big picture,is he good enough if we get promoted ..no. Will he have to be replaced if we get promoted..yes. Therefore logic dictates, because of the monetary caps this season, we have to get rid to recruit, we all crave another Yann Mvilla and if our new scouting system is efficient we will find one, EJ makes the decisions now and if we are all agreed we let him do what is best for the club, for as much as we chat here we can't do dilly squat about the decisions the club makes.

Yee jest!? Cannot believe we all missed this...

We have signed a load of players who have never played at a higher level and wonder why we've ended up a mid-table division 3 team. All Donald’s fault for not using the parachute payment to strengthen the team for immediate promotion..

Grigg has gone horribly wrong, he’s rubbish. Signing players from a level above is what we should still aim for though, this league is dreadful so signing players from the league below must be a massive gamble

I think it just showed how **** Donald is, Grigg could have been a decent signing, problem was he didn't really want to come and also I don't think under the 2 managers we never played the style of football that suited the way he plays.
It's similar to say playing Defoe upfront by himself and hoofing 50 yard high balls to him.
So for the chairman to sign someone the manager didn't really want, who didn't want to come , and didn't fit with the style of football we played really shows why SD should have stuff to insurance

Thing is, how many of the current squad would you keep if we do go up.

I’m not saying he should be starting, but, as nacho said, statistically much better than Power. Only thing Power does better is shoot. Dobson better at all other aspects. I just saw someone last season who I thought would make the step up. Not seen it this season but form is a temporary thing. In truth I don’t know if he’s good enough. I know he hasn’t looked it this season though.

And thats reason that Nacho and myself can’t get on board with this “worst player” **** that people say. (Not you rog). I just have time and respect for people willing to work at things. He is. I think he wants a career at SAFC. Not sure he’ll end up with one, but he wants one and works for it so that’s good in my book

I don't see them every day mate so can only form an opinion on matchday, he tackles well wins a few and has a good engine, then starts the problem he passes sideways and backward just like The ginger biscuit skunk used to before he defected. Now is this something PP instilled in him, only time will tell,As it stands im hoping Krill will splash the cash, if he does we have to get rid of a few to keep within the monetary restraints introduced, which ones that speaks for itself those bough on championship wages, those who's contract are up this summer, Which ones, anyone not good enough for the championship. who to keep the academy lads and anyone who the manager thinks can cut it in the league above, we can only summarise but from what i've seen the majority of opinion isn't that far off.

Agree mate, I don't think he has enough quality but I wish 90% of the rest of the squad his determination and work ethic.
If it was a toss up between him and power I'd take dobson all day, I really don't rate power and there seems to be a feeling about powers shooting ability , I'm not denying he can stick a ball but I have a feeling he's only scored around 7 since he came, which for sometime that is a regular started isn't a great return for a CM
