He sounds like a nasty piece of work. I wonder if we'll discover that he did similar things in his homeland, then came here to carry on.
Cheap yeah, but a let off. We should keep the convicted alive for as long as possible, incarcerated for eternity would be ideal.
Why so he can live in relative comfort, always fed, always warm, always got a roof over his head, always access to entertainment and recreation etc... If prison time was actually hard and something that would make his life hell then I'd agree, but it really isn't is it.
Relative to what? Capital punishment is for those who believe in Hell. A man cannot be punished once he is dead, and what of the wrongfully convicted?
I knew a criminal psychologist who interviewed and gave evidence/advice in court, on some very high profile cases. Obviously I won't ever mention names, out of professional discretion, and he didn't. But I asked him a question though.... Are murderers, rapists, peados, all of that actually mad, or are some of them just plain evil? He didn't hesitate to answer. "A lot of them are just plain evil, without any doubt, but you are right, there are people who are just insane" I can't mention any names of course and he didn't, but I know for sure who some of the people who he talking about, you'll all know of their crimes. On this note, a funny story.... The physiologist was interviewing an 'inmate' for possible parole, to make recommendations. This idiot told him "When I get out, I'll find you and I'll kill you". The phycologist duly made his recommendations One other thing he told me.... All this talk of Prison being a lovely comfy place with a telly and all the Mod cons, is bullshit. It's ****ing awful in there. I've never been myself, of course, but trust me, you should have seen look on his face when we had these conversations. It's not a hotel at all.
I agree it's not a hotel and a friend of mine has done time a couple of years and it was enough for him to never go back, but it's hardly the hardship it used to be, could be and imo should be. Side note though, I bet they where some very interesting and thought provoking conversations
