Leeds Utd v Brighton and Hove Albion Saturday 16th January 15:00pm | Elland Road Brighton are the visitors to Elland Road this Saturday for a traditional yet rare 3pm kick off. Many of the older generation (you know who you are) will recall that once upon a time almost all games would kick off at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. I'd be flicking over every sixty seconds from Ceefax to Teletext to see the latest score. Leeds will be without star midfielder Kalvin Phillips who serves a one match ban for reaching 5 yellow cards. Pascal Struijk is set to deputise. Diego Llorente has been declared fit by Marcelo Bielsa, and may pick up his first start for the club since joining from Real Sociedad in the Summer. If not, all rounder Luke Ayling will partner fit again skipper Liam Cooper at the heart of Leeds defence. Tyler Roberts joins Robin Koch and Adam Forshaw on the treatment table. Brighton will be without Aaron Connolly, Danny Welbeck, Florin Andone, Jose Izquierdo and Tariq Lamptey who are all ruled out with injuries. Adam Lallana and Steven Alzate are ruled out with illness. It's touch and go whether former Leeds favourite Ben White will play against his former (loanee) club? He withdrew from Brighton's FA Cup clash with Newport County on Sunday evening with a thigh problem. It would be nice to put more distance between the two clubs, especially after the Brighton hierarchy refused to sell either White or Lamptey to Leeds in the Summer as they didn't want to sell to a club they saw was equal to them.
For anyone who takes any interest in the stats of the game Brighton are in a bit of a false position in the league. They’ve been inefficient and/or unlucky at both ends of the pitch... missed chances whilst opponents have taken theres. No easy games in the Prem but this one will likely be tougher than it might look at first glance.
Exactly what I was going to say, Brighton have dominated a lot of their games even against the better teams. This is going to be really interesting, two sides who are used to having a lot of possession and chances but both can be wasteful with them (more so Brighton this season.) The missing players could have a big influence on this result, I don't like the idea of playing an attacking side like Brighton without Phillips and Koch but i'm sure they'd say the same about their absences.
Can be no excuses not to get 3 points from this as Welbeck, Lamptey, Connolly and Lallana have been their best players this season and they’re all out. Comfortable win for Leeds.
Didn't know we went in for Lamptey. He's certainly caught my eye this season. I had never heard of him beforehand.
yeah i do on both counts, at the match in the family stand with one of my daughters thought rodders was a decent player for us overall and good old ceefax everything seemed simpler back in the day....now where did i put my denim jacket with all the leeds badges on
Think mine's still in the loft. Besides the club one's think I had. Tony Currie walks on water Arthur Graham is lightening Jesus saves, Lorimer puts in the rebound.
Think mine would be in landfill somewhere along with a lifesize cardboard figure of Tony yeboah that I aquired from a local sports shop display for puma featuring the super striker, that was proudly in the corner of our bedroom for a long while....think the wife still misses him
Doing okay thanks mate hows things with you? should imagine things have quietened down here now there isn’t much to moan about
With the injuries Brighton have it’s surely a must win for us, we need Brighton to get sucked right into that relegation battle.
