Waggy out injured means bad luck for him but perhaps an opportunity for Dele Adebola to step up to the plate..

Dele scored a lovely winning goal in the recent reserves match vs Grimsby Town in a 3-2 win which could well be great timing for him.

He also showed some nice touches and played a hand in Emerton's opener.

We are all still wondering why NP brought him in, so perhaps now is the time for both the player and the manager to show us.

In the meantime we all wish Martyn Waghorn a quick and full recovery as there's no doubt in my mind that he could play a big part in this season's potential promotion push.

Horse's For Courses, I'd rather bring on Barmby for McLean or Fryatt instead of Adestrola

The ball doesnt stick up top when Adebola plays. Fryatt and McLean been tried and IMO doesnt work and can Barms do a full 90 mins week in week out til Christmas. Another loanee looks likely.

adebolla can look forward to a place on the bench maybe. but there are better options in place of waggy for now.

Dont need Barmby for 90 minutes, we'll have to stick with McLean & Fryatt and bring Barmby on as super sub for last 30-40 mins for either Fryatt or McLean.

i think (assuming that waggy is out for the brighton game) that NP will go something like 4 - 4 - 1 - 1 and bring back Mckenna and play Koren at the head of a diamond and have a free role. imo.

I dont like the 1 up top style of play, I'd just go with McLean & Fryatt up top and stick to our winning formation of 4-4-2

at home i would agree with you. but city are away and NP likes this formation and the smash and grab tactics.

by having barmby and mclean fresh to come on for the last 20-30mins -away from home - is good tactics.

but until we get the full extent of waggs injury and lay off its all still speculation still.

I reckon Waghorn's injury is more of an opportunity to McClean than Adebola. He'll be aware that he is becoming the second string option when both Waggy and Fryatt are fit so now is his chance to make himself undroppable.
I hope he can get in among the goals and give NP a real selection problem when everyone's fit.

Mclean and Fryatt for me, we've turned it around with two up top so wouldn't like a return to one up front.

I hear what you're saying but away to Brighton I think 1 up top could be successful

Would be disasterous to me mate playing 1 up top, cant remember us doing that since the home defeat V Palace.

Plus Brighton are not all that trust me. People are bigging them up far too much, they'll finish nowhere near play offs imo.

I can see arguments for both scenario's but Koren having a free role without having to worry about defensive duties could run the game and be more effective than McLean & Fryatt (who haven't played well together for some time).

I also see your point mate but beg to differ.

2 up top every game, it suits our shape better.

I don't disagree with you and would not be unhappy if McLean & Fryatt were to start! Would just like to see Koren further up the field

I expect it to be Mclean and Fryatt up front while Waggy is out injured. Don't be suprised to see Adebola feature at some point though, if he keeps doing well in the reserves then he may be worthy of a place on the bench or even in the starting line up. I would by no means expect him to be first choice, hence why i said Mclean but i think there will be an opportunity for NP to show us why he signed Adebola in the coming weeks. If he doesn't play him then Adebola will be unanimously considered a bad signing, but if he is given a proper chance then at least he's had a chance to show people his worth.

I think Koren has found enough space in recent games when we have deployed two strikers up top and in fact this is when Koren has popped up with his goals as the opositions defenders will tend to focus on our front two rather than Koren appearing from deep then BANG... GOAL !!!

Fair point, time will tell! I think NP will go for 4-4-2 by the way, just thought it would be nice to try something different whilst McLean & Fryatt aren't setting the world alight when played together
