Good for you mate. That’s genuinely great to hear. By the way, the NHS clearly hasn’t changed since I retired. I heard from a friend today who has volunteered to help out with the vaccination programme and apparently they told her she would have to undergo Lifting & Handling training, as well as Equality & Diversity training, Information Governance training, Fire, Health & Safety, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.
Haha sounds about right. Saw something recently about GP's being forced to do child protection courses to be able to vaccinate adults...
To be fair, the DBS which you need to work with children also covers you to work with vulnerable adults. I can’t believe a GP wouldn’t already have a DBS though!
I have read that this is all being stopped, so that those known to the profession, just coming back to help with vaccinations, won’t have to do them.
I know a nurse who has had her first Pfizer jab, which is great news. I have also seen reports of some people declining the Pfizer jab, saying that they will wait for “the English vaccine”! Fine, let them wait. Let them take the chance of catching the virus and dying from it, if that is what they want. Put them at the tail end of the vulnerable groups.
Here’s the BMJ, although it says, when I looked closer, that Hancock is looking at reducing some of the bureaucracy. https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n13
Criminally late. Requested by airports and airlines in April. Should have been mandatory for any travel to UK.
it’s like the house flooded, and having waited all year for a plumber to show up, someone just decided to turn off the mains. Brilliant.
And whilst everyone was occupied by the insurrection in the USA, we had more than 1100 Covid deaths recorded in one day, following more than 1000 the day before. I don’t suppose these figures take into account any further spread of the virus on Christmas Day.
Not sure if true, but the Mirror reporting that some hospital bosses have asked if they can put patients into beds in care homes. They attributed this claim to “NHS Providers”. Another claim, in a “leaked document”, is that London hospitals are less than 2 weeks from being overwhelmed.
I too have mixed feelings about the Pfizer vaccine because of its storage problems....and would prefer the Oxford one, but am not daft enough to look a gift horse in the mouth. Bring it on.
Don’t mind which jab I have, I let you all know which one it is come 15th feb. That date is a tad ambitious but with the army now involved with all their skill set.....who knows.
Is there an accepted number of days between a 'Super Spreader' event, such as families mixing at Christmas/mingling at New Year, and the virus showing up as an increased number of cases? In other words, is the recent high(er) number of cases down to Christmas, or should we expect an even higher peak?
I would have thought we are seeing the Xmas mixing results in infections ATM. New year cases still to come.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55577426 Fraudster give fake vaccine to 92y old. Absolutely disgusting, he needs catching quickly.
We had a circular email from our local council warning of fake sites offering vaccine and asking for bank details. Utter scumbags, prison is too good for them.
