Remember last year, when the media went batshit crazy to condemn Corbyn for not attending a dinner in Trump’s honour, whilst the likes of Johnson, Gove et al cosied up to him?
    Funny old world.

Me neither, Johnson, Gove and Trump nah not even for a free bash. Dinner with Corbyn, John Bercow and Vince Cable, who also declined, a much more attractive prospect proved someone else is paying.

Just seen something good, on the Martin Lewis Money Show, confirming that a EHIC will continue to be valid, until it’s end date and can then be changed for a GHIC, which is the same as the EHIC, minus the 4 countries that aren’t in the EU but were previously included in the EHIC scheme.
Hopefully this means that travel insurance for those with existing health conditions won’t rise to ridiculously high fees.
    Something Brexit hasn’t broken.

President-elect Joe Biden said: "Nobody could tell me that if it was a group of Black Lives Matter protesters yesterday they wouldn't have been treated very differently than the thugs that stormed the Capitol."

    Welcome back A real POTUS

Trump’s finally admitted defeat, albeit not accepting Biden’s election win as legitimate.

Notable tone shift in this speech. Suppose he needs time to pardon himself...

In all seriousness, would love to know the backstory of the last 24 hours because this speech isn’t remotely like Trump.

Some amusing editing cuts in there too!

The backstory almost certainly is that he was presented with a choice: record that hostage video, or be removed via the 25th Amendment.

Also, a police officer has now died of their injuries after being clubbed on the head with a fire extinguisher during the attack on the Capitol.

Well in that case it’ll be interesting to see what happens next.

Pence’s advisors have said the VP strongly opposes the 25th amendment being brought into play.

Pelosi, of course, said she would look into the impeachment of Trump if Pence didn’t have the stones to remove Trump by invoking the amendment himself.

Police are now walking it back. Apparently they are on life support, pending the notification and arrival of family. So not dead, but not going to survive sadly.

Edit: their death has now officially been announced.

The Capitol, apparently, has it’s own 2000 strong police force on site.
Chuck Schumer, Senate Democrat Leader, is calling for the Senate Sergeant of Arms to stand down. If he doesn’t he will fire him when his party takes control, later this month.

Wow, they are trying to blame Antifa for the riot! Lots of Trump supporters refusing to accept it was there lot that did it and one of the Republican politicians actually spreading fake news that Antifa caught on identity recognition cameras.

    What has happened to integrity?

Integrity stopped being important when politicians realised that they could lie through their teeth, be exposed as liars, yet still get elected at the next election.
It’s not just the politicians that lack integrity, but those who put them in power, despite knowing what they are voting for.

I think the press has a lot to answer for. Too interested in pandering to the masses and exploiting right wing narratives to sell papers and adverts.

However, social media - which was hailed as a revolution in providing truth - has actually just become a huge lie machine.

I hate this catch-all of "the media" like it's all one amorphous blob.

Agree with you regarding social media though.

Trump now has police blood on his hands. One of the Capitol Police injured by the stormtroopers has died. :(

Sadly the media is much more of an amorphous blob than it should be. The mainstream media is dominated by a few powerful people. The BBC is now owned by the Tories.

I still have a lot of respect for Channel 4 news.
