I might be wrong but surely the club has insurance for problems like this, players are insured but I am not sure if there is a policy for injuries which would pay all or part of a players wage if they are ruled out for a long period of time?

I thought most clubs didn't insure player's for injury, or rather they only insure for a career ending injury, as the premiums were just too expensive

Your probably right, my chain of thought was Grigg was a big signing for a big fee at league 1 level so I thought the club might have protected their “investment” I really have no idea

TBH neither do I, but I seem to recall a comment / article about this a number of years ago that financial pressure was forcing more clubs down that route. Though I do believe that if a player is injured on international duty the club does receive some compensation.

The 400k I think is how much to pay his contract up as he has nearly 18 months left on his contract which would be 78 weeks pay at 5k which is 390k

Our insurance business owning , and outgoing owner, would have thought of that, obviously. Wouldn't he.

Maybe he had one before he joined us, as was suggested on here after he tip toed gingerly through his first few games, this season is the first time I have seen him actually trying to play, its all speculation of course, but it does make you wonder that we were set up by this deal all along. <ok>.

Were we set up, or did we just not do, what's that term again, ah yes "due diligence"
I'm only going off what I saw on STID but did we really look into his injury record and make him undertake a "full" medical?
I don't know but maybe that old adage of "let the buyer beware" may be applicable in this case and we brought it on ourselves though a lack of a professional approach. Hopefully that will all change with the new ideas to be introduced by our new owner.

I have always had a degree of sympathy for Grigg. I always thought he must have felt rubbish when watching STID and knowing the manager didnt think you were worth the money. I have often wondered how much trust Ross put in him from day one bearing in mind he wasnt fully behind the signing. He has looked a player lacking belief since day one I reckon and I do wonder if has never really been fancied. Lets face it it is hard to see Parky playing to his strengths. There is a finisher in there somehwere I just reckon we have never played for him as a side. Not saying he couldnt have put a bit more in, maybe be could, just feel it was a set of circumstances that have gone against him.

That said I did think it would be best for him to move on the Jan if someone would have him. It isnt good for him or us the way it is going. Perhaps the injury might scupper that now. Maybe, just maybe, he will be a half decent sub in the rest of the season if Johnson can lift his confidence a bit. Times like this the old combination leagues played a part by letting lads get a bit of form back.

That should never have been seen on STID ...

I feel for Grigg as he has been made into the scapegoat for the absolute **** running of the club. If we hadn’t took the Maja money he probably wouldn’t even be here.
It’s not his fault we paid over the top for him and had to fill Maja’s boots.

    Can't agree tbh.

Donald & Methven are almost universally blamed for the running of the club, which is justified ...

... Grigg has been blamed for not scoring, which is also justified.

Don’t blame Grigg at all for taking the money you should only blame the people who offered him it<ok>
