If we get a bye I hope we have the decency to compensate Shrewsbury for lost earnings. Third round tie on TV worth a fair bit for a club like that.
45 years on another cup win would be lovely. And why not, playing well and would be just reward for this group of players. Hope we give it a good bash. COYR
I presume there's no scope for postponement? Either it gets played, or we get a bye. If they're not able to play at the weekend, I can't see next midweek would be any different. The following midweek we're already in action, and the weekend after that is the 4th round.
Not sure that would happen, but there's a big part of me that says you're right. We're doing well and I really do think that the PL clubs need to find ways of helping the EFL clubs out at present.
I hope we can play Looking forward to seeing some youth players Diallo and Fraser starting and Danny might appreciate the game to get back to 100%. Rests rarely do us any good for some reason. We always look sluggish and lose when we come back If it is a bye then I agree we should give them the prize money but compensate them for loss of TV money? Sorry I don’t get that
I doubt very much that Southampton will compensate Shrewsbury in any way if the match is not played and we get a bye. Might be different if we cancelled....we don't live in fairyland.
Presuming we either win this game or get a bye, we will have to play the 4th round game on weekend of 23rd Jan. If you add that to our PL schedule, we will have 7 games in 22 days up to and including Newcastle away (unless they shift that date for TV). We could really do with this break given our injury troubles. It will give the fit players some much needed rest and hopefully one or two can return for the Leicester game.
Shrews CEO on TalkSPORT just now. Effectively saying health must come first but they can't yet say whether it will or will not go ahead. So it's still all a bit up in the air.
