I wonder who will develop the first AW jumps course

Did you know that all weather racing was originally meant for the jumps!? Not many people realise this

Back in the 1980’s they had the idea that jumping on all weather surfaces would be better during the winter but as it turned out, it was a terrible. Horses kept finishing lame, jumps racing was cancelled and that gave way to flat racing

However, the surfaces have improved a lot since then (and continue to improve) and the surfaces being used in some top show jumping arenas and racing establishments are much better in terms of horse well being (eg lessening of impact). One would think that with only 8 hurdles to jump over 2 miles, it might be worth an experiment at some stage

To be reviewed in 10 years

Too many deaths and injuries last time I believe is the reason why there is a reluctance to try again, especially with horse welfare so important these days

    First at kempton
Trepidation arrives straight from a Win at Wolverhampton over 7f and should step up to the 8f here the form if woeful on the card and the only other that should go close is jeanette may .
I love the name choice on trepidation especially when you realise it came from bated breath and true pleasure .

Exactly G1; The AW surfaces were too firm and jarred them up. One day they will have it so it is better for the horse. The aim is to replicate turf and control the going

Given jump yards train horses solely on artificial surfaces (so school on it too), you could see the return of it if there was a need. Not sure what the appeal would be, but who knows.

Evening, team. How are we??? At the very least I hope everyone is satisfactory and bally well hanging in there.

Anyone going to reveal any racing revelations then?!? And as it’s a New Year, on this occasion, I don’t mind in the slightest if any anecdotes include those dear old moles / insiders / contacts (delete as appropriate).

Sad to hear of the death of Colin Bell. A most honest and forceful footballer. When Man City were in their first season back in Div1 in 1967 I remember seeing them totally thrash the Spurs on a snow thick pitch. The skill they all showed was amazing. Bell always seemed their leader on the pitch even if Tony Book was the leader elsewhere. They were an exciting team with an old fashioned forward line and though Bell wasn't centre forward he led it. I believe he had a bad injury in the mid-70s and a tendon reattached in the wrong place. It made him 75% of the footballer he was, but still he was good enough to continue playing until '79.
