Their plan was to delay until they "turned ra core-na" beat Sevco, got the gap down to a theoretical 4 points knowing we've got a horrendous run of away fixtures in January, went into the transfer window with a war-chest, strengthened and watched Sevco have the annual implosion.

Technically, yes, but most would agree to tell each other maybe 1week, 1 month, 3 months etc beforehand. It would renew automatically if neither party wanted out of the contract.
